    Episode 12

    It was Saturday.

Woojin set the coordinates to a road not far from his uncle’s house in Korea and opened a subspace.
“I wonder if he’s at home? Maybe he’s still sleeping?”

Even though it was Saturday, it was 9 in the morning.

Just in case, Woojin pressed the doorbell.

    Ding-dong-

    “Yes. Who is it?”

    Luckily, his uncle was home.

“Uncle, it’s me, Baek Woojin. I’m Baek Jinhyung’s nephew.”

Because it had been a long time since he last visited, he made sure to identify himself clearly.

The door opened not long after.

“Woojin! What brings you here all of a sudden?”

He extended a box of sweet potatoes he was carrying to his uncle, who greeted him warmly.

“I heard you liked sweet potatoes. Did you enjoy them?”

“Oh, did you come all the way here because of that?”

    “Yes.”

“Just wait a moment! How much is it for a box?”

His uncle took out his smartphone.

He was going to transfer money through mobile banking.

Woojin lowered his head and set the box of sweet potatoes in front of the entrance.

“I’m just giving it to you. Uncle, you’ve taken care of me a lot.”

    “Still, it’s too much….”

“If you want to, you can give me something in return. The box is worth 300,000 won.”

When the number 300,000 won came up, his uncle hurriedly put his smartphone into his pocket.

“Thank you for the delicious treat!”

He laughed, feeling that his uncle resembled his best friend in many ways.

“Enjoy it. Well, I’ll be on my way.”

“Just wait! Can I ask you something?”

    “Go ahead.”

“How on earth can you grow something so delicious?”

His uncle personally grew vegetables like lettuce and green onions in his front yard.

Last year, he had planted sweet potatoes, but they were just average in taste.

    “It’s an industry secret.”

    Woojin chuckled.

Could it be attributed to the influence of the protective tree?

“Oh, come on. Can’t you at least give me some hints? Have a meal at least!”

“I’m a little busy right now. Let’s have a meal together another time.”

His uncle tried to hold on until the end, but he eventually gave up after Woojin kept refusing.

It seemed that the sweet potatoes were really good.

Although there was a disappointed look on his face, it was a role that he couldn’t reveal.

Because those delicious sweet potatoes could only be grown in the subspace.

After delivering the sweet potatoes, Woojin went to a 24-hour unmanned pet supply store nearby.

He felt that the world had become much better when he saw that 24-hour unmanned stores were popping up everywhere, and even a branch had opened here in Okcheon.

“I guess snacks are necessary, right?”

Today, he planned to buy treats instead of pet food.

As expected of a pet supply store, there were various products on display.

Woojin took his time looking at the products and eventually chose a large tube of chu-ru.

It was a cylinder-shaped product with a large amount of chu-ru that babies could eat.

With this, there would be no need to worry about treats for a while.

“What should I buy for Kan?”

Kan enjoyed eating food that people ate like rice and ramen.

So, Woojin visited a nearby market instead of a pet supply store.

Kan used to enjoy eating roasted sweet potatoes very much.

When asked what was so delicious about them, he said it was because they had a sweet and savory taste.

Woojin brought a cart and put Choco Pies and soda in it.

“Let’s also replenish the ingredients we’re short on.”

He put red pepper paste, red pepper flakes, soy sauce, peeled garlic, green onions, onions, carrots, and other ingredients that were in short supply into the cart.

Then, he went out to the market and bought two free-range chickens.

After finishing all the shopping, Woojin returned to the truck.

Thinking about the delighted creatures waiting at home, a contented smile formed on his face.

    * * *

After returning to the subspace, Woojin brought the truck and used the outlet trigger to connect the camping box to the road.

He was preparing for the next trip.

The work was finished in less than an hour.

“Kan, come here for a moment.”

    He called Kan first.

    “Why?”

Kan, who was rolling around on the floor, came closer.

Woojin took out a box of Choco Pies and handed it to Kan.

    “What’s this?”

“A treat for you to eat.”

    “A treat?”

    “Yeah.”
