The Eldest Sister Has Space: Chapter 15: what is auntie

Chapter 15: What is An Aunt, Really?

Gu Qiuyue screamed in shock, staring at Gu Yundong as if she were a stranger. Short of breath, she exclaimed, “You… You’re insane. I’m your aunt!”

“In a world where my mother’s own son is valued less than a half-bag of grain, what significance does ‘a little aunt’ even hold?” Gu Yundong retorted coldly, advancing towards her with measured steps.

The dagger in her hand drew nearer, and its metallic scent filled the air. Fearful, Gu Qiuyue stepped back several paces, clutching her daughter’s hand tightly as her heart pounded against her chest.

“Here, at the city gates, everyone is watching. If you commit murder, you won’t be able to escape. Listen to me,” Gu Qiuyue said, trying to sound composed, “if you just apologize to Lanzhi and make amends, and if she forgives you, we can forget all this happened.”

Gu Yundong surveyed the onlookers; indeed, several passersby were glancing their way, though none seemed inclined to intervene.

“You really think I would bow down to her? Try it if you want, or better yet, ask Fu Lanzhi if she even dares demand an apology from me,” she said, an icy edge in her voice.

Fu Lanzhi met Gu Yundong’s chilling gaze and shook his head in fear, unable to speak.

Gu Qiuyue, annoyed yet fearful, wanted to step forward and strike Gu Yundong. But the sheer intensity in Gu Yundong’s eyes held her back, and she eventually couldn’t contain her rage, shouting, “Fine! I’m done with you. You show no respect for your elders; do not come begging me for help in the future. You’ll be dead to me. You’re mad, just like your mother. Lanzhi, let’s go!”

The two had arrived hurriedly but left stumbling over their own feet.

It wasn’t until she was well away that Gu Qiuyue cursed under her breath, “Just wait, you little brat. Do you really think I can’t control you? With those three burdens, we’ll see how long you can keep this up. Don’t give me an opportunity, or I’ll make you regret it. I don’t even want to think about how many men you must have been with, you little harlot.”

Fu Lanzhi finally stopped crying, “Mother, why aren’t they with Grandfather and the others anymore?”

“They must have been cast out,” Gu Qiuyue said with a sneer, knowing her parents’ temperament all too well.

“They got what they deserved,” she spat.

As the two figures vanished from sight, Gu Yundong put away her dagger and glanced around. Perhaps it was the blood on the blade or the ominous glint in her eyes, but some onlookers who had seemed keen to approach her now thought better of it.

This confrontation with Gu Qiuyue had some use after all.

“It’s hard for a young girl like you,” an old man who had observed the altercation from start to finish sighed, “but acting this way, you’re without a single relative who might support you here. You must be cautious.”

“Do you really think if I had apologized and groveled for mercy, they would have helped us?” Gu Yundong replied with a dismissive smile.

The old man paused, then conceded, “Well, that’s true.”

Having stood her ground against Aunt Gu and her daughter, Gu Yundong finally relaxed and began to observe the large number of refugees gathered outside the city gates.

There were so many people, the roads were congested.

They proceeded slowly along the road, finding themselves on the outskirts. Looking behind, Gu Yundong noticed a continual stream of refugees making their way to the same area.

She glanced around with a furrowed brow; something was off — very off.

The Eldest Sister Has Space

Having traveled from the end of the world to ancient times, Gu Yun Dong barely had time to catch her breath before she found herself on the run.
Her family was driven out of the fleeing clan by her grandparents, with everyone else just watching coldly. Her father was missing, her mother was foolish, her little radish-headed siblings were skinny and big-headed, and Gu Yun Dong, who was on her last breath, just felt a toothache.
There was no choice but to roll up her sleeves and get to work. Doing business, opening shops, buying good farmland, Gu Yun Dong’s life was thriving. If there weren’t people around her coveting and wanting to marry her, she could even reach the sky
