Absolute Regression: Chapter 1 Part 3

Those who achieved the unity of the martial arts called him the Immortal Warrior.

“Oh my goodness! He is an opponent that even if we were to regress, we still wouldn’t be able to defeat!”

“We must definitely kill him.”

“How on earth? He is the greatest martial arts genius in history since the establishment of the martial arts.”

“I, too, heard the name genius when I was growing up.”

“He is known as the Heaven’s Martial Body bestowed by the heavens!”

“I, too, have the Heaven’s Martial Body.”

“What? Who are you?”

“The deceased Heavenly Demon is our father.”

“!”.

The man’s words shocked the ghost. He never even thought that the man was the son of the deceased Heavenly Demon, even in his dreams. Now, he finally understood what the man had accomplished. He already knew that the man wasn’t an ordinary person, but he didn’t expect him to have such a high status.

“So how did you survive?” the ghost asked.

In response, the man loosened his clothes. The scars left on his chest were fatal enough to make the ghost exclaim, “Oh my, aren’t you a ghost?”

“When I woke up, I was in a pile of corpses. I crawled out of there just before being buried alive.”

“Is that so.”

“The reason I can’t forgive the martial arts is not because they tried to kill me. It’s not even because they killed our father or my traitorous brother. Throughout my life, which was cursed by demons, what’s the big deal about dying for someone?”

“And?”

“That day, the martial arts killed everyone, from inexperienced practitioners to seasoned experts and even infants. They even killed the dogs and cats that I raised. They killed every living being in sight.”

“Lies! I can’t believe it.”

“Your belief or disbelief doesn’t concern me.” The ghost could sense that the man’s words were true. The man he had seen until now was not the kind of person to tell lies like this.

“It doesn’t really matter who he is anymore. In reality, he might be involved in something much bigger. He might receive applause from someone for eliminating the demonic cult. But to me, the martial arts are simply an enemy who killed my family, a ruthless and merciless cold-blooded killer. No matter how you look at it, we can’t kill him in this era, so we must go back and kill him. I must ask him before killing him. How could you have killed even children, who were so strong?”

The ghost stared at the man with a bewildered expression. He never imagined that the man had such a story. The man placed his hand on his chest.

“That day, my guards tried to protect me, but they were pierced by holes and died here. Not to mention marriage, I haven’t even had a proper friend. They watched over me day and night. Now, please don’t waste any more of my precious time and tell me. What is the third ingredient?”

“You really…”

“I am a busy person. So, the next ingredient!”

Since meeting the man, the ghost let out the deepest sigh he had ever taken.

“No matter who you are, this time you may not be able to retrieve it.”

“What is it?”

“It’s the Winter Fire Carp’s gall. The last time it was discovered was three hundred years ago. It might not even exist in this world.”

“You’re truly damned. Shall I just cut you down right here and now?”

“Please bear with me.”

“I’ll bear with it. How did I even come this far? Wait for me. This time, it might take quite a while.”

“Look! Do you think the Winter Fire Carp will just rise if you cast your fishing rod?”

“The Winter Fire Carp is still ultimately just a carp, right? It must exist somewhere in this world underwater. Just wait. I will definitely retrieve it.”

Watching his back as he walked towards the impossible, the ghost realized that stories about his younger brother or even his unknown name were not that important after all.
