Garbage that Devours Trash
“Then we will use the SH Software headquarters building as collateral. The assessment was unproblematic, so we’ll proceed with the loan of ten billion won as planned.”
“Thank you.”
As I picked up the doc*ments from the desk, the branch manager bowed his head with a friendly smile.
The sight of walking into a pit that might as well be the entrance to hell, grinning all the while, could have been considered laughable, but I returned the favor with a smile without giving anything away.
It was probably with the same expression that this man pushed countless victims into the flames of purgatory before.
“I’ll be taking my leave then.”
“Take care on your way out!”
I walked out nonchalantly, greeted by the people who had come to see me off.
This time, the profits were pretty substantial.
Even after deducting the cost of information, various manipulations, and the money given to buying off collaborators, there would still be around seven billion won left.
Of course, this level of profit wasn’t enough to send me over the moon, as I had reaped such gains several times before and was no longer a novice swayed by every success or failure.
After ensuring there were no tails following me three times over, I took out a burner phone.
As usual, when I called the money launderer, a cheerful voice answered.
“Oh, I was just thinking you’d call sooner or later. Did everything go smoothly?”
“About seven billion. Take your usual fee and take care of it.”
“Wow, you really have the touch, don’t you? How do you manage to milk so much money without raising any suspicion?”
“Those bastards are always like that. Living a life of feasting on someone else’s money, it never occurs to them they could be prey.”
The simple yet unerringly true principle had never betrayed me.
There’s no need to conceal it. Having embarked on this line of work as nothing but a swindler a decade ago—
Excluding a few years at the very start when I was virtually a novice, I have never let any of my prey slip through.
Every single one of the individuals marked as my target has shared a common trait.
They were all swindlers whose greed filled them to the brim.
Put bluntly, it’s an act of cannibalism. Trash devouring its own kind isn’t too far from the truth if you consider their growth.
“I’ll take care of it like always. Check back after some time. It will be deposited into the designated account, so make sure to withdraw it at the right time.”
“Do you think I’m new to this? As if I’d make a mistake with that.”
There’s no grand reason why I exclusively feed on fellow con artists or those close to being scoundrels.
I was an orphan from the beginning, so it’s not because my parents were swindled, nor is it any sense of justice to make the world a better place.
Knowing all too well that I’m the same kind of swindler, I have no desire to rationalize it as some act of a dark knight or a hero out of a sense of justice.
However, the reason I continue making money this way is not complex.
First, like presenting bait to a suitable prey, these people will relentlessly try to devour you if you just dangle it in front of them.
Therefore, without any hesitation, I can strip them of everything in return.
Moreover, even if they are robbed of their money, they can’t complain anywhere.
How can they seek the help of the law when it’s simply money obtained from scams being taken by a scam?
I am concerned about personal retribution, but since I take various measures to avoid exposing my identity and face, that’s not an issue.
It would not be an exaggeration to say that there’s almost no one who could make contact with me aside from the man on the other end of this phone call.
“So, who’s your next target? Got someone in mind?”
“I have someone in thought. Some private school foundation chairman who has been acc*mulating money through pretty nasty methods.”
“So you’ll deliver the judgment of justice on them?”
“Justice, my ass.”
