Hidden corner Chapter :- 7

Chapter 7: Hope 1 (Thanks to Yixi Chengdao Alliance Master)

The shrill sound of a car horn was piercing, causing ear pain.

Li Chengyi suddenly woke up from his stiffness, standing at the bus stop without any change in position.

A worn white bus was continuously honking its horn, urging a pedestrian in front to hurry and move away.

The pedestrian was an old lady carrying a hemp bag, recklessly crossing the road and quickly stepping onto the platform.

The car horn was warning her.

Li Chengyi’s eyes were hazy, as if the scene he had just witnessed was still lingering in his sight.

That giant face that kept approaching.

He was still feeling numb all over, as if his scalp had lost sensation, like all his hair had fallen out.

“Huh, another dream?”

He looked around, realizing he hadn’t entered the underground parking garage again but was still at the bus stop.

The metal sign nearby marked the location.

Andu Road and Tongfeng Road.

The slightly warm air turned into a breeze, bringing waves of the scent of leaves and flowers.

The faint fragrance of flowers made Li Chengyi’s consciousness slightly better.

Ding dong, ding dong.

His phone vibrated twice.

The subtle vibration, like a lifesaver, instantly pulled Li Chengyi’s consciousness back from the chaos.

He quickly took out his phone and unlocked the screen.

It was a text message from his parents.

“Don’t come home early, your sister has instructed. Do you still have money? I’ll transfer some more to you.” – Dad.

“Stay in school a little longer, eat before you come back. Your sister’s matter is important, maybe your future job will depend on her.” – Mom.

Li Zhao and Feng Yurong, as always, focused all their attention on the sister.

Li Chengyi could understand, after all, for a common family like theirs, the only chance to turn their fate around was to cultivate a strong elite.

And now, his sister, Li Chengjiu, met this expectation perfectly.

“Got it.” He calmed himself down and replied simply.

Putting away his phone, he still stood there, his chest heaving rapidly, thinking back on everything that had just happened.

Also recalling the sentence he saw on the forum before.

“If you encounter a dead end, please do not contact us. Try to enjoy the last beautiful moments of your life. The dead end will gradually approach and will completely pull you in on the third sign. Go do everything you want to do but were afraid to.”

“The third time”

If last night was the first time, then just now at school shouldn’t count, since it wasn’t the same place, and I hadn’t completely entered.

But just now.

Did that count as the third time?

Or was it still the second time?

Li Chengyi’s mind was a mess.

He didn’t know what the dead end was, nor what that face was, but he just wanted to live.

He inexplicably came to this world, becoming another person with the same name and surname.

He really didn’t want to die.

Not so meaninglessly, drowning in fear.

The fear of survival made Li Chengyi’s panic grow heavier.

“What should I do!?”

“Just now… maybe it wasn’t a sign, right, it definitely wasn’t, maybe I was just too tired just now, took a nap.”

He kept finding reasons for himself.

As he thought about it, he suddenly felt a slight sting in his ankles.

Lowering his head, he quickly rolled up his pant leg to check.

A series of dense blood spots clearly distributed around his ankles.

Li Chengyi was suddenly stunned.

After pausing for a moment, he quickly stood up, pulled open his collar, and looked at his body.

Thankfully, there were no blood spots on his body.

“It was just now! It was during that moment!”

He immediately remembered.

The same feeling of stinging in his feet when he encountered that huge face in the mysterious underground parking garage just now.

And now.

This sting had actually followed into reality.

“Is this reminding me… that wasn’t a dream??”

His chest heaved violently, breathing quickly, as if a huge stone was pressing on his heart, making it hard to breathe.

What to do!?

What should I do!??

A multitude of complicated thoughts flashed through his mind rapidly, but if just now everything was real.

Facing that terrifying giant face, clearly not a normal creature.

He was at a loss.

“Maybe, I should call the police? Seek help from the state!?”

This thought flickered through Li Chengyi’s mind.

This thought, once it arose, didn’t disappear but grew stronger.

Facing an utterly incomprehensible danger, perhaps seeking help from state machinery was the best choice.

But suddenly, the crying girl he met in the cafe, the girl in the white sweater, came to his mind.

“Why didn’t she call the police?”

A doubt surfaced in his mind.

Thinking of this, Li Chengyi could no longer stand still, he quickly glanced around, and retraced his steps back to the cafe he had visited earlier.

Rushing all the way, a deep sense of urgency and danger continuously forced him to move forward, to accelerate.

He feared the dangerous situation from before would happen again.

If he could communicate with someone at this time, perhaps get some advice, maybe

Rushing back to where he started—the YesiLi Cafe.

The cafe entrance now had a small mobile cart set out, displaying advertisements for the latest coffee products and small cups of new desserts for tasting.

Li Chengyi entered the cafe, and after wandering around the first-floor lobby—which was now more crowded—

Mostly college students, but he couldn’t find the girl in the white sweater from before.

Everyone looked relaxed, some chatting and laughing, others playfully whispering, and some even studying while having their meals.

Their lives seemed completely detached from Li Chengyi’s, as if belonging to another world.

Not finding her on the first floor, he hurried to the second floor.

Unfortunately, the girl in the white sweater was nowhere to be seen.

Li Chengyi felt a bit disappointed as he went downstairs and left the cafe amidst the soft “welcome back” electronic sound.

On the street.

A white city SUV quietly parked by the roadside.

The car window was already rolled down, revealing the face of the driver.

It was a middle-aged man with thick eyebrows and sharp eyes, sporting a neatly trimmed gray beard, a slender face, and neatly combed back hair.

He rested one hand on the steering wheel, his gaze blankly watching the passersby, as if lost in thought.

For some reason, the moment Li Chengyi stepped out of the cafe, the middle-aged man’s gaze swiftly moved to him.

He seemed to be observing something, or perhaps he saw something.

Li Chengyi’s body tensed involuntarily; he didn’t know why he felt nervous, but his body just tightened without reason.

Not finding the two girls earlier, various thoughts flickered through his mind.

“Now, the most likely help would be to search online for solutions, and also, seek official assistance.”

His mind quickly sorted out the most likely methods to survive.

“If I were you, I wouldn’t wander around outside like this.”

Suddenly a deep male voice floated from ahead.

“While there’s still time, why not go crazy once?”

The voice continued.

Li Chengyi abruptly looked up, following the voice, and his gaze met that of the middle-aged man looking his way.

“What do you know?!” He opened his mouth but found his voice, for some reason, hoarse and deep.

Unconsciously, he moved closer to the white city SUV.

“You’re about to die.” The middle-aged man said calmly. “The third sign is about to appear. And then, you will, like others, poof.”

He clapped his hands together, mimicking a sound.

“Vanish completely.”

“Is there a way?” Li Chengyi’s eyes widened, asking quickly with a calmness he didn’t expect himself to have.

“Has anyone ever survived? Can you help me?”

The depression in his heart seemed to find an outlet, a lifeline.

If there was someone who knew the inside story to help him, maybe he could escape!

This thought raced through his mind.

“Me?” The man laughed, turned his head to look in front of the car. “I’m just a failure. A useless person, what can I help you with?”

“That place.” He turned his head back to Li Chengyi, “No one can help you, you can only rely on yourself.”

“Just like my former friends, my son, they all went through this.”

Speaking, he drew a cigarette from the inner pocket of his black suit, lightly lighting it, and took a drag.

“Go away, don’t stay here, it’s bad luck.” He waved his hand at Li Chengyi.

“There must be a way, right? You came here on purpose, initiated conversation with me, there must be a way, right?” Li Chengyi wasn’t foolish.

The other could see the precursor on him and even initiated conversation without any ground reasons.

If he resented his bad luck, why didn’t he stay silent from the beginning?

“You have some smarts.” The man smiled, flicking his cigarette ash outside the window.

“Even if you avoid it for a while, how about it? Anyway, you will die sooner or later, time and time again, without end, without hope.”

“The future is the future, but now, I don’t want to die!” Li Chengyi stared at him seriously, articulating each word.

“Why should I help you?” The man asked again.

“Since you came here, initiated conversation with me, it means there’s something you need from me.” Li Chengyi said, “So.”

“So.” The man interrupted him, “If you can survive the first time, then we might have a chance to cooperate.”

“Okay! How can I survive?” Li Chengyi asked quickly. “Do you want me to tell you what I’ve experienced?”

“No need!” The man interrupted him again, “It’s meaningless. Dead ends only target specific people, and they can only enter through a unique method. Once entered, it will approach again and again automatically, until it completely consumes that person.”

“Then, how can I survive!?” Li Chengyi continued.

“Find the exit after fully entering for the third time, leave that place, and you can survive,” the man answered. “But there’s no actual exit there, just like how you entered, you need to find a similarly unique method to find the door to leave.”

He pointed his finger at his own head.

“You need to think, not by force. There, no matter the weapon, the number of people, it’s useless. By the way, I advise you not to call the police, otherwise, you might lose even that last bit of hope.”

“I—” Li Chengyi wanted to ask more, but the car window had already rolled up.

The man waved at him through the window, started the car, and slowly drove away.

He seemed to not hold much hope for Li Chengyi surviving, his eyes showing a hint of disappointment.

Perhaps Li Chengyi wasn’t the person he was looking for.
