Liuyu’s face turned pale and she trembled all over.
She realized that all her calculations and schemes had been defeated by this world that treated human life as nothing.
She could attack vampires because they were not of her kind, they preyed on humans-
But what about Princess Mary?
What about Natasia?
What about Gaia?
Could she bring herself to harm them?
She couldn’t treat human life as ordinary; this was the imprint left on her by the past twenty years.
“You’re crying,” a cold hand touched her face and gently wiped away her tears.
He asked, “Why? Because…you’re scared?”
“Yes, I’m scared,” Liuyu buried her face in the chest of the young man.
She shivered, both for this world and for herself.
She thought Mary was just being pretentious, but this pretentiousness could cost her life.
What about Natasia?
She had unbeatable luck.
What did she have?
Only her life.
“I’m scared,”
Mary’s whip made her come to her senses.
Everything she took pride in was just a castle in the air. She was still a weakling who had to rely on others for rescue.
She was no Oracle, no Saint; she was nothing.
Only by standing on the highest ground…
Liuyu looked into Gaia’s eyes with an unprecedented fiery gaze.
He was so beautiful, the most exquisite and noble porcelain in the world. He possessed kindness, he possessed goodness, he symbolized nobility, unmatched by anyone.
She wanted to possess this porcelain, to possess it forever.
“It’s alright, it’s over,”
Gaia touched her head and felt like she was a lost lamb.
“Gaia, hold me tight, I’m cold,”
Liuyu opened her burning, azure eyes in his arms.
Through layers of green shade and scattered sunlight, she realized that Prince Carlo, Natasia, and Mary had appeared without knowing when.
They stared silently at each other, none of them speaking.
After a moment, Liuyu buried her head in Gaia’s chest and hugged him tightly.
Chapter 14: Your Blood
“Berya, are you feeling better?”
Gaia’s voice affectionately brushed past her ears.
Liuyu made a sound of acknowledgment and looked at her tears moistening the young man’s thin silk shirt. She wiped away her tears and straightened her posture:
“I’m sorry, I lost control.”
There was a hint of imperceptible embarrassment in her nasal tone.
“It’s not your fault, Berya.” Gaia touched her head and slightly lowered his head, “So, can you tell me now, what happened?”
Liuyu had a moment of distraction.
The expression on the young man’s face was too gentle, the same gentleness as usual but also different.
She couldn’t tell.
“I don’t know either,”
Liuyu shook her head.
For tonight’s plan, she couldn’t expose Mary, otherwise she would certainly reveal the drug as well.
“I thought we were friends.”
The young man looked at her insistently.
He probably sensed something.
Liuyu knew that Gaia was always perceptive.
She looked at the approaching group, to be precise, Mary, who showed signs of nervousness, shrank back and hid in Gaia’s arms again:
“M-maybe the horse suddenly went mad.”
Mary visibly relaxed.
“Berya.”
The young man pursed his lips disapprovingly.
Liuyu grabbed his sleeve and her voice trembled:
“G-Gaia, let’s go first, okay? I-I’m not feeling well.”
The young man sighed lightly, and then, the horse beneath him moved.
Hally’s four hooves galloped.
Liuyu was thrown into Gaia’s arms.
His embrace was not as lean as it appeared, but rather had a sense of strength. His waist was wrapped in a white shirt, and the wind billowed up, hitting her face.
Her nose caught the scent of fresh pine snow, a clean and pure fragrance.
Liuyu held onto him with her arms tightly, feeling a slight discomfort from the young man.
“Berya.”
“Huh?”
“Let go a bit, Hally is well-behaved and won’t fall.”
“But when I let go, I see the figure of that horse drifting by. It went mad and got smashed to pieces…I’m not afraid as long as I’m with you.”
The girl’s body trembled in his arms.
Gaia again smelled the fragrance of roses.
He fell silent for a moment and then gently touched her head with his free hand.
Liuyu’s lips curved slightly.
In the instant that Liuyu and Gaia left, Mr. Edward rode over like the wind.
He saw the black horse lying in a pool of blood at a glance.
“Oh, God, what happened?!”
“Miss Fergus is safe, and then Mr. Leslie took her away,”
Prince Carlo explained.
Edward glanced at him:
“Your face looks like you just ate shit. Prince Carlo, do you also like the beautiful Miss Fergus?”
“Edward, you’re joking again.”
Prince Carlo smiled bitterly.
Natasia glanced at him, her fingers intertwining and the bones of her fingers turning pale white. Mary coldly hummed:
“That’s impossible, Miss Fergus has such a bad temper. Prince Carlo only likes gentle girls.”
