Prologue
On the rooftop of a building where the chilly wind whipped fiercely, two figures were at a standoff.
The woman gazing at me, her long blonde hair billowing above the abyss, was the hero, Stardust.
And I, confronting her, was unquestionably a villain.
“Alright, your little game ends here. What more do you plan to do?”
Her icy words pierced through, as she glared at me. There I was, denounced by the hero simply for taking a few hostages and causing some trouble.
Is that fair, I wonder…?
The woman facing me was named Stardust, her real name Shin Haru.
Just, never overlooking injustice, kind, and resolute.
She was the protagonist of the comic into which I had been transported.
Over the years, I had become her archenemy.
Why, you ask? Well, it was all for her sake, really.
Not that she would ever know.
Hiding my true intentions, I chuckled a villainous chuckle and addressed her.
“You did really well, as always. Truly commendable. The archenemy I acknowledge.”
I mockingly clapped my hands high in the air, prompting a scowl from her.
“I don’t need your approval, you despicable cretin.”
Yeah, yeah, I get it.
But you see, I’m almost out of time to use my telekinesis.
If I’m not careful, I might just plummet to the ground below.
So, let’s end this quickly.
My final farewell.
“That’s right, Stardust. That’s right! You’ve always been the first to see through my ‘games,’ to stand against them, to pursue me relentlessly.”
She shot me a look that said, ‘What are you talking about?’ Oh, did she just flinch like she was about to fly over here? Hey, remember I still have the detonator to this building’s explosives, okay? Don’t come any closer.
“Anyway, it seems today’s fun will be my last. You’ve grown up now. You no longer need to play with me. I don’t think I’ll be singling you out anymore. Take care, Stardust.”
“Wait..!”
Having said all I wanted, I quickly wrapped my cape around me and teleported away.
And the last image of Stardust that caught my eye before I left…
Was her eyes wavering intensely.
What’s with that?
