As if stating simple facts like the sun rises when the moon sets.
His voice so certain, so assured.
For a moment, she lost her words, grasping at her scattered thoughts before quietly opening her lips.
“…Does that even make sense? Are you just trying to get rid of me using this opportunity, thinking I wouldn’t know?”
“Why would I try to kill you?”
His calm voice followed.
“Without you, what meaning is there to my existence? Without you, I am but a commonplace villain.”
“You complete me.”
“So stand up, clench your fist, give strength to your legs, and fly into that sky to save the people. You can do it. Because that’s who you are.”
And with those words, the call was abruptly ended.
Left alone, she was momentarily stunned by the sudden turn of events…
Then, as if snapping back to reality, she vehemently shook her head from side to side.
That lunatic is spouting his usual nonsense.
He’s the one who caused the airplane to crash in the first place.
I know my own abilities; how am I supposed to stop that?
Isn’t this just his way of trying to kill me with this chance?
Yet, his words kept echoing in her mind.
‘No, you can do it.’
‘You complete me.’
‘Ball your fists, steady your legs, and take to the sky to save those people. You can do it. Because that’s who you are.’
To take these words at face value, one might believe they were spoken by a fan of hers.
But these words come from her enemy, the egotistic one.
‘Maybe that’s why they carry more credibility and objectivity?’
Her mind was in chaos.
Already feeling the powerlessness and despair of witnessing the impending deaths of everyone on that plane, reality was taking its toll.
‘That’s right. If I could stop a train, why not a plane? A plane is, after all, a kind of flying train, isn’t it? What is a plane anyway, short for airplane-train? So, maybe I can stop the plane too?’
Her brain, utilizing some seriously flawed logic, was attempting to forge a path forward.
And ultimately, her brain reached a conclusion.
[The 247th Regular Cerebral Conference for Decision-Making of Shinhare]
[Resolution: Let’s go save the airplane.]
‘Right, if I just watch these people die, I will live crushed by guilt for the rest of my life. It’s better to try, without regrets.’
And immediately…
She took to the skies.

“Aaaaaaahhhhh!”
“Huuuuuuuhh.”
“Aaaaaaaaaaack!!!”
Inside the plane, screams were rampant.
Despite falling quite smoothly for a plane that had just exploded, the terror wasn’t lessened.
Through the windows, the ground was getting closer and closer.
Initially only clouds were visible, but now, below, the sea was coming into view.
People were screaming, praying to God, passing out, or quietly giving up and closing their eyes.
As they approached the sea, with only minutes left till impact, people began to lose hope.
Then, a thud.
From the front, a noise began to sound.
Thump. Thump.
