“Uhm, sorry to disappoint you, Seo Eun. You’ll have to get up and get it yourself.”
“Hmph… Alright.”
“No, but you see, I need to conserve my strength.”
“Strength? What do you mean?”
“Uhm… Have I not explained this to you? Let’s see… You know in RPG games there’s something like MP, right? It’s the value that mages need to fill up to cast spells.”
“Ah, that thing? The blue bar under the HP?”
“Exactly. My psychokinesis is like that. If I use it too often, my power weakens to something like a mere claw crane machine’s grip. But if I don’t use it and just sit still, or do something like charging? What’s the word—focus? If I concentrate, my power can become a bit stronger. That’s why I need to conserve energy to prepare for emergencies.”
Actually, the last time I used it was to deal with that crocodile guy a few months ago. Maybe that’s why I do feel quite a lot stronger now. Endurance is the key to victory…!!
“Ah. Now I get it. I thought you could just use it carelessly… I’ll go get it.”
And so, Seo Eun reluctantly headed towards the hotel mini-fridge.
I guess I’ll flip through the channels in the meantime.
Variety shows… news…
I’ll just turn on the news.
Honestly, in this world, the news is more entertaining than variety shows.
With the news talking about B-grade villains and pyrokinetics, how can it not be interesting?
When I turned on the news, pictures of a woman with blonde hair and another with long sky-blue hair appeared on the screen. Oh, the left one is Stardust. The right one, that’s her, Ice Princess.
The news anchor’s voice continued,
[“Following the report of Shadow Walker’s coma, there has been an unending stream of concerned voices about national security. A-Class heroes Stardust and Icicle from the association have stepped forward with clarifications. They’ve announced that they will be on a 24-hour emergency standby, managing Seoul and the capital area by Stardust and the northern and southern regions of Gyeongsang Province, including Busan, by Icicle.”]
Well, Stardust always took care of Seoul, and Ice Princess was in charge of Busan, so this announcement essentially says they’ll be working around the clock. Poor things…
Ice Princess isn’t typically referred to as such yet, being officially named Icicle in news reports. But that nickname was given after she supposedly froze over North Korea in the latter part of the story, so it makes sense.
While I briefly reminisced about the original work, the anchor kept talking,
[“Given the citizens’ worries questioning how two heroes could cover all of South Korea, the association advised that people should keep a baseball bat by their bed just in case, sparking nationwide outrage.”]
…The association is still doing that, huh.
Well, it’s always been like that, so it’s not exactly surprising. If I remember correctly, the head of the association has always been a bit off…
But really, the public safety situation must be a bit unstable. Should I prepare something too?
“Brother, are you watching the news again? You really seem like an old man in times like this.”
Suddenly, Seo Eun returned to the room, ridiculing me. No, it’s unfair. To you, this might be routine, but to me, it’s like watching a movie.
“Huh? But that’s not water, that’s cola. Where did that come from?”
“Cola? It was there when I opened the minibar?”
I nearly screamed.
“Seo Eun! What if you drink that! Do you know how ridiculously expensive hotel minibar snacks and drinks are? That can of cola you’re drinking probably costs like five thousand won!”
When I expressed my shock, Seo Eun just shrugged as if it was no big deal.
“What does it matter if it costs five thousand won or fifty thousand? We have a lot of money.”
At Seo Eun’s words, I was momentarily lost for words.
Right, we are rich?
The money I’ve earned using my knowledge of the original world since I got here, plus the money Seo Eun had made, was indeed considerable.
But maybe I’ve lived like an ordinary citizen for too long, I seemed to have forgotten that.
“After all, brother, just think about this hotel itself. It’s probably the most expensive property in Busan. It’s the only five-star hotel here.”
“Uh, yeah. Drink as much as you like. But brush your teeth afterwards.”
“Oh, really.”
