Should I call it an elevator?
I took something akin to a platform lift and descended downward.
Down, down…
But then again,
Hmm, on second thought, a teleportation straight to the basement from above wouldn’t have been a bad idea…
Right, it’s always good to conserve energy.
A short while later, the lift came to a halt.
The interior was neatly lined with pristine gray walls.
As I walked further inside, LED lights on the walls enveloped me.
It was like a scene straight out of a near-future sci-fi movie.
Further in, a large room appeared.
It resembled a place from an American space movie, like those you’d see at a NASA research facility, where they say “Houston, Houston,” and respond with “This is Houston, over.”
Amid the myriad of lights shining from the monitors, sat a child in a leather chair, which seemed twice the size of their own hideout.
This child made my abduction signal a reality,
appearing in the latter half of the original comic as an S-class villain.
“Hey, big brother is here.”
“You’ve arrived, ‘bro’?”
A genius hacker, Han Seo-eun.
I walked over to the chair Seo-eun was sitting in and ruffled their hair.
“Why am I a ‘bro’ anyway… Anyway, what were you up to?”
“What do you mean? I was fixing this.”
Seo-eun frowned and shook their head as I stroked their white hair.
Small in stature with delicate features, they were undoubtedly a girl… yet they insisted they were a boy.
Having read the original, I knew full well that Seo-eun was a girl, which made it all the cuter. Maybe they have a slight trauma about being a girl? But that doesn’t seem quite right either… I wonder why they do that.
It is a bit strange to be called ‘bro’ by a girl… but Seo-eun is in their third year of middle school, after all. Of course, they do not look it at all.
“Seo-eun, you did a really great job with the hijacking yesterday. Seriously, my face was all over the national news.”
“It was nothing. Anyone could have done such an easy task.”
As gruff as Seo-eun’s words were, they still smirked when praised. I can see that smile, you know.
“Also, bro, that’s not the issue. We’ve got trouble.”
“What? Is there some problem?”
What could possibly be wrong?
“Look at this.”
When Seo-eun finally showed me one of the videos on the display, my face inevitably stiffened.
“What on earth is this?”
