Mechanical Alchemist: Chapter 14

“Laon, congratulations on your successful promotion as a Windrunner. The main materials for alchemy plants suitable for your profession are quite varied. Our primary targets this time are the ‘Lightning Lizard’ or the ‘Underground Horn Dog’. There are quite a few of these two types of monsters in the shallow layers of the dungeon. As long as luck is not bad, the chances of obtaining cursed materials are quite high…”

“Yes, if we are lucky enough to encounter the ‘Beast King’, we might even be able to extract cursed materials of ‘silver quality’. Then we can ask the guild’s mechanic to help refine it, and you will become an official professional.”

“Boss, guys, please don’t make fun of me. Buying the materials for promotion and the blueprint for the alchemy plant have almost used up all my savings. If I don’t gain anything this time, I will really be penniless…”

“Haha, don’t worry, Vice Captain Laon. Once you become a professional, your combat power will skyrocket. The initial investment will soon pay off, and we will rely on you to take care of us…”

This is a fully armed hunting team with a total of eight people.

They chose to set up camp in a ruined building with a dilapidated watchtower. The location of this camp is also a must-pass route on Suren’s map.

While chatting, a vigilant team member suddenly noticed abnormal movements deep in the cave and shouted, “Be careful, someone is coming over there!”

The journey through the dark dungeon was not fast, and it would take about four or five days to reach the “city” where the original owner had come from.

But Suren’s situation was not good.

His food was almost depleted, and if there was no resupply soon, he would probably have to try hunting some dungeon monsters as food.

But water was a big problem.

Suren originally thought that there would be an ecological chain underground, so water sources should not be lacking.

He had been walking in the dungeon for several days and had found several water puddles and seepage spots in the rocks. However, the Omniscient Eye showed that they were all various degrees of “contaminated water sources” that would cause distortion when ingested.

Suren also vaguely understood why the water in the bald storage ring was so turbid but still drinkable.

Compared to distortion, turbidity was acceptable.

Suren originally wanted to encounter some people so he could buy some drinking water and inquire about the situation. But obviously, encountering anyone in this desolate dungeon was not a good choice for asking directions or buying water.

But now, he had encountered this hunting team.

Having witnessed the ruthlessness of the bald people, Suren did not think highly of the people in this world either.

But he had no choice but to take the risk and make contact with this team.

Because they had also noticed him.

Obviously, there were also special abilities among the opponents that were good at long-range perception. And even before Suren saw them, they had already aimed their guns at him.

Suren’s eyesight was amazing, and when he saw the sniper on the high watchtower aiming at him with a sniper rifle, he had no intention of resisting and raised his hands to indicate that he had no intention of drawing his weapon.

And at his waist hung a wooden box, and as long as it was slightly touched, the wooden puppet inside would drop out.

Eight people, two snipers, and six in the camp…

Suren observed for a while and roughly estimated the situation.

The range of the Rune Puppet was only ten meters, and walking hundreds of meters made his heart tremble.

But if he chose to escape, the snipers on the other side would probably shoot him like shooting a mole on the ground.

While walking, he shouted loudly, “I mean no harm… I just want to exchange for some food and water.”

“Boss, it’s a human, not a monster.”

“Yeah, it seems to be a lone unlucky guy.”

“Huh… the red fire gun around that kid’s waist, could it be the famous gun ‘Three-Headed Ghost’? Isn’t that the gun ‘Ironhead’ Ivan of the Crow Gang uses…”

“Yes, I saw it too. ‘Ironhead’ Ivan is not someone you want to mess with…”

The small team camping in the ruins of the watchtower obviously became curious when they encountered a lone human.

After the “bald” didn’t make any dangerous moves, they let him approach.

Yes, the “bald” refers to Suren.

Without undergoing any cosmetic procedures, Suren was worried that the trouble with his previous body would fall on him.

Returning to the city with this appearance would definitely not work.

A purposeful disfiguration method, such as cutting his face with a knife, would make him stand out even more.

So he decisively used a physical disguise technique―shaving his eyebrows.

If someone tries it, they will know that the most direct way to make a face suddenly become unfamiliar is by shaving off their eyebrows, which is definitely a disfigurement-level disguise method that takes effect quickly.

And Suren also didn’t have any idol baggage. For safety reasons, he even shaved off all his hair.

Then he used oil paint to apply eyeshadow to himself and create a smoky makeup.

He went from a gentlemanly handsome guy to a punk delinquent who looked rebellious.

This kind of dark punk style attire was not strange in this world, and it was even considered mainstream.

Just like several members of this hunting team that Suren saw in front of him, they were dressed like this.

Suren walked to the broken wall, and at least ten guns were already aimed at his head.

He didn’t know if he didn’t have enough understanding of steam machinery, but he felt that the equipment of these guys in front of him, although not as fine as the equipment of the bald group, was much more sophisticated and had a stronger sense of technology.

They were equipped with various rifles and strange-looking mechanical swords, mechanical shields, full-body metal exoskeletons for bearing weight, and backpack-sized steam-powered boilers…

What surprised him even more was that the person who looked like the “captain” had both arms replaced with well-made steam-powered mechanical arms!

It was not the kind of exoskeleton-like mechanical arm that the bald people had, but a “mechanical prosthetic” that completely replaced the flesh and blood arms.

“Did I guess wrong? Isn’t this a magical world, but a cyberpunk world?”

Seeing this, Suren started to doubt his previous speculation.

Perhaps the technology tree of this world had already deviated… Even the development of “prosthetic limb transformation” with high technological difficulty was already at this level?
