Mechanical Alchemist:Chapter 12: Bountiful Spoils of War

The bald man is dead, and Suren begins to collect his spoils of war.

The mechanical arm on his right arm had already been damaged beyond recognition in the previous battle, with the barrel, air valve, and high-pressure pipeline all cut open.

However, this did not hinder Suren’s research on this steam-powered black technology.

He had just stripped the bald man of his memories, and some basic “steam mechanical knowledge” had emerged in his mind. With this, he roughly understood the structure of this mechanical arm.

“The tech tree of this world seems to be skewed, a combination of alchemy and steam power,” Suren mused, looking at the runes engraved on the mechanical arm and falling into thought.

The simple metal material could not support such a complex structure, especially the ultra-high-pressure steam cannon. These mysterious alchemical runes played a very important role in the stability of the structure.

However, his mechanical knowledge was still very limited, and he temporarily could not understand the principles of these inscriptions and enchantments.

Without looking further, Suren began to collect the other equipment on the bald man’s body.

Regrettably, apart from the dagger he had just obtained, almost all the items on the body had been damaged. The musket had been cut into several sections, with half of the handle still in the holster.

Suren was somewhat disappointed. He didn’t find the supplies he wanted and wondered, “Is this it? Don’t these guys bring food when they go out?”

Just as he was pondering this, he suddenly saw three black gemstone rings on the bald man’s hand.

Suren thought that if he remembered correctly, one of them was stripped from the finger of the dead rooster-headed man by the bald man.

Upon closer inspection, the “Omniscient Eye” immediately responded with information.

【Damaged Space Ring】

Explanation: Inferior space equipment, engraved with identity recognition runes (damaged).

“Space equipment?”

Upon seeing this, Suren revealed an expression of realization.

In such a desolate underground, water and food should be more important than weapons. These guys didn’t even have a water bottle, which was abnormal.

He stripped off a storage ring and put it on his own finger. With a thought, he suddenly saw that the “black gem” on the storage ring was a folded space.

About half a cubic space, densely packed with various bottles and jars.

Red and green, row upon row, they looked like potions.

Suren casually took out a red test tube potion and identified it with the “Omniscient Eye”.

【Inferior Healing Potion (Internal Use)】

Explanation: Quickly stops bleeding and accelerates wound healing; although there are impurities, fortunately, there are no side effects.

Then he looked at a blue one, which was for restoring Dark Soul Power.

There were also some high-level potions with inscriptions on the test tubes, but they were few in number.

“Indeed, emergency medicine is a must-have for adventurers. I probably won’t die now,” Suren was delighted.

A second ago, he was worried about the lack of necessary potions, and the wounds on his body would become infected and inflamed, posing an unpredictable fatal threat to him.

Now seeing these potions, he immediately opened a medium-grade healing potion and drank it. He also used a disinfectant potion for external use to clean his wounds.

Without the “Omniscient Eye”, Suren felt that even if he saw these potions, he wouldn’t know that these test tubes contained life-saving medicine.

Of course, there were also poisons.

Now it seems that this talent ability is indeed a perfect match for a transmigrator like him.

What’s amazing is that after Suren took the potion, he suddenly felt a tingling sensation in the wounds on his palms. He knew very well that this was the manifestation of accelerated cell division and wound tissue healing.

Normally, this feeling of healing would only become apparent several days after the wound appeared.

“What a magical potion, if this were in my previous life, it would be a life-saving miracle drug for surgery,” Suren said.

Suren’s current vision allowed him to clearly see that his wound was healing at a speed visible to the naked eye.

It looked like it would be completely healed in less than half an hour.

However, he also muttered, “It seems a bit wasteful to use a ‘medium-grade potion’ for this kind of injury.”

It seems that the powerful effect of the “medium-grade healing potion” should be used to treat more fatal injuries. For the wounds on the palm, an inferior potion seems to be enough.

But using it on himself, Suren didn’t feel it was a waste.

In the second storage ring, Suren found the food and water he wanted, but they were very hard to swallow.

The food was a hard black bread that was like a brick, and the water was even murkier.

If it hadn’t been identified as 【Inferior Drinking Water】, Suren wouldn’t have thought that this murky liquid, which looked like it was directly pumped up from a swamp, would be drinking water.

Without rushing to eat, Suren checked the last storage ring, which surprisingly contained weapons.

There were two punk-style pistols and a short-barreled shotgun.

Then there were bullets and some replacement parts for the mechanical arm.

The guns were all good, and the bullets were not all simple gunpowder bullets.

After identification, Suren found that among the ordinary bullets, there were some special bullets with magical inscriptions on the bullet heads, 【Alchemical Bullet (High Explosive)】, 【Alchemical Bullet (Armor Piercing)】, 【Alchemical Bullet (Demon Breaking)】.

The quantity was not much, but they all looked very powerful.

He didn’t find any other food in the last storage ring, and Suren had no choice. Low blood sugar was making him a little dizzy. He took a bite of the black bread and gulped down a few mouthfuls of water with a rotten smell.

As he ate, he also found it strange.

Judging from the equipment carried by the bald man, the muskets, bullets, and so on were all well made, and the industry of this world should be very developed. But the food was a bit pitiful.

“Do these guys even fail to guarantee basic clean drinking water and food?”

Suren, who had transmigrated, found it hard to understand why these guys could have such sophisticated equipment but not a pot of clean drinking water.

He vaguely guessed that the living environment of this world might be very harsh.

Suren sat next to the bald man’s body and ate, watching as the physiological characteristics of a living person gradually faded from the body, the skin turned white, and the body temperature gradually dissipated.

And just as he was still checking the items in the storage ring, he suddenly noticed two glowing objects appearing on the bald man’s body.

A palm-sized blue scale armor slowly condensed from the skin of the body; the other was a dark red strip that looked like a muscle fiber bundle.

Upon identification, they were two special items.

【Diamond Scale Armor (Damaged)】

Explanation: A damaged alchemical implant, perhaps you can extract some useful extraordinary materials from it;

【Cursed Object: Tough Demon Muscle (Damaged)】

Explanation: The material for the ‘Steel Strongman’ class of sorcerer power; missing a part of the curse characteristics, needs to redraw the curse runes to use;

“So this is the scale armor that made the bald man impervious to swords and spears? It turns out to be a kind of equipment-like thing,” Suren suddenly found it amazing, wondering what kind of existence this thing was. It could become a tattoo covering the body, be activated into a physical object with a magic circle, and now that he was dead, it had peeled off.

That “alchemy” that frequently appeared in the Omniscient Eye made him more and more curious.

And that “demon muscle” shrank the bald man’s body visibly by a large margin after it was stripped from the body.

Suren also understood something and said to himself, “So that’s how ‘class materials’ are used, directly fused into the body to enhance physical attributes?”

He immediately thought of the “Puppeteer” class material he had in his hand, which could greatly enhance agility and skill after class advancement.

Now it seems that this “demon muscle” of the bald man is the root cause of his exaggerated strength!

However

Even knowing the principle, Suren found that he still didn’t know how to “advance to a class”.

Having barely filled his stomach, Suren had also almost finished checking the items in the bald man’s storage ring.

It’s not that he didn’t want to figure it all out, but that the “Omniscient Eye” item identification was not without cost.

Identification requires the consumption of Dark Soul Power.

The higher the grade of the item, the more it consumes.

He now only had a few dozen points of Dark Soul Power left in his body, and even if he drank a recovery potion, it would take several hours to fully recover.

Anyway, he had found the remaining medicine and water, and he was not in a hurry to know what the remaining items were for.

Suren loaded both guns with bullets.

One was loaded with ordinary bullets, and the other was loaded with special alchemical bullets, then he tucked them into his waist.

He planned to leave here first, find a human city, and learn about the situation in this world.

Before leaving, looking at the bald man’s body, looking at this desolate manor, Suren suddenly had a doubt in his heart.

“Logically speaking, the original owner came to find this relic. Why did the bald man kidnap the original owner? Did he follow him here specifically, or did a traveling companion suddenly have malicious intentions?”

Suren felt that the former was more likely.

Even if the original owner was stupid, he probably wouldn’t share such important “treasure of Baron Isaac” with others. And even if he was looking for teammates, he probably wouldn’t choose the bald man, a “gang” that could rob and kill at any time.

And from the information left on the retina, the original owner’s identity seemed to be very sensitive, like a banished son of a large family.

These conditions combined make it very intriguing.

“First of all, the chance of encountering in such a remote place is very low. And judging from the questions the bald man asked before, they didn’t know about the existence of the treasure or the true identity of the original owner. So, they followed with a very simple purpose, to kill and silence!”

“And the reason they didn’t act immediately might be because the bald man was greedy and coveted the secrets on the original owner, which is why he followed him all the way here.”

“If they don’t know each other, there’s no old grudge. So, it’s most likely a ‘hired murder’.”

Suren connected the limited information in his mind and roughly restored the truth of the matter.

He speculated in his heart, “Does this mean that there are people who want him dead in the place where the original owner came from? If I go back, I might be assassinated again?”

Thinking of this, he frowned slightly, this was not good news.

This also means that even if he returns to the city where the original owner came from, he cannot reveal his identity.

Otherwise, it might lead to a fatal disaster.

“This is a bit difficult for me,” Suren muttered, “This handsome face is very recognizable.”
