Episode 2
“Oh, miss! I don’t exactly know what it is, but… is it a new business idea?”
The maid stood firm, blocking the door unlike my excited self.
‘Isn’t there a stationery store for children in this world?’
I calmly searched Mel’s memories in front of the maid.
Now that I think about it, there was no stationery store specifically for children like in Korea.
Stores that only sold stationery seemed to be classified as “general stores”.
‘There are no stationery stores. Only general stores. You’re the Blue Ocean?’
It seems like I’m suggesting quite an unfamiliar business idea.
Of course, my previous self, the original Mel, had a long list of unique business ideas that all failed.
So, it’s understandable that the maid was frightened by my words suggesting an unheard-of item.
Considering that I’ve been ruining businesses every time, it’s natural to think that they would kick me out of the family.
“I-if you leave the family and fail again… you might not be able to wear the fancy gown you like!”
Rosaline desperately tried to stop me and shouted.
But I didn’t need an uncomfortable gown like that.
“It doesn’t matter.”
I replied, shaking my head.
“You won’t be able to eat the extravagant dishes of the head chef from the palace! What if you have to eat the common people’s food like oatmeal and whole wheat bread!”
Mel was originally a villainess, but I’m from humble origins in Korea. I used to eat rice, kimchi, and ramen for meals.
I smiled lightly as I passed by Rosaline.
“I like oatmeal and whole wheat bread. It’s healthy, you know.”
Mel’s also 25 years old now. It’s about time she started taking care of her body.
It seems like her opposition has also subsided. I walked past Rosaline and she asked me with a loud voice.
That’s probably what she was really concerned about.
“What if Lady Hildegart bullies you? If you don’t have the family’s support, you might really…”
Rosaline’s words were not wrong. In the original novel, “The Lover Bewitched by Magic,” Hildegart Vaveloa, the Duchess, eventually kills Mel and her mother.
I looked at Rosaline, who was quivering with anxiety, and reviewed the original contents once again in my mind.
Let’s get the situation straight.
Other than my current position, I was at rock bottom.
The woman I possessed was Mel Vaveloa, the fiancée and villainess of the male lead in the romantic fantasy novel “The Lover Bewitched by Magic.”
Her adoptive mother was the last surviving direct descendant of the Kinnoa Viscount family, who was rumored to have lost all magical abilities due to a dragon’s curse.
Because of that, most of the direct descendants of the Kinnoa Viscount family died young, and Mel’s mother was no exception.
‘And Mel gradually started to be marginalized.’
After her mother’s death, the Duchess Vaveloa and her lovable sister-in-law entered the picture.
And since then, Mel’s wickedness and bad rumors began.
‘There were rumors of a cursed bloodline, and as she grew up ruining businesses, she received the label of a villainess….’
The important thing is that in “The Lover Bewitched by Magic,” Lennox and Mel have been engaged since childhood.
However, Lennox and Mel’s half-sister, Sheria, ignored her and pursued their love for each other.
Mel, who tried to break them apart, became the target of people’s criticism. It’s ridiculous.
‘Even though in the novel, they were depicted as interfering with each other as if Mel was disrupting their affair.’
In the end, Mel is killed by the Duchess Hildegart Vaveloa, Sheria’s mother, and the two lovers have a happy ending without obstacles.
What a ridiculous and unlucky ending.
I looked at the maid and laughed softly.
It seemed like she was expecting me to stay here and receive some kind of protection from the family.
But that’s because she doesn’t know how Mel Vaveloa ends up, how she fails and dies, as described in the original work.
‘Even if I stay here, if I go against Hildegart, I’ll die.’
…If I say that, the maid with innocent eyes might cry.
Instead, I murmured in a low voice.
“If I mess with her, it seems like I’ll just stay still, right?”
Let’s go out for now.
It’s too troublesome to interfere with the love affairs of two adulterous lovers, and it’s annoying to die for no reason.
‘If they don’t get involved too much, they’ll each go their own way.’
If they start pestering me again, I won’t just sit back and do nothing.
Despite my serious words, the maid still hesitated and trembled with fear.
I looked at her and gently stroked her neatly tied hair.
“Don’t worry. I’ve thought of everything.”
Hildegart Vaveloa.
She is Mel’s stepmother and the Duchess.
If she’s thinking about everything that has happened to Mel Vaveloa, it’s a mistake. I roughly know what actions she will take.
Imagining the thick wad of money in my luggage, I looked at the maid.
“It might be interesting.”
“Miss…”
“If things go well, I’ll share my wealth with you.”
I double-checked my attire and walked out of the mansion.
And instead of the Vaveloa carriage, I called a rented carriage.
When I tried to get on the carriage with a normal dress unlike usual, people started gathering around the carriage, probably hearing the conversation between the Duke and me that quickly spread inside the mansion. And they started whispering around me.
Of course, I could hear each and every insult clearly.
“Am I finally being driven out?”
“As expected, it’s the final fate of a villainess.”
“…Yeah, what will happen to the cursed bloodline? It’s that curse’s bloodline.”
Oh, it’s even padip, a type of insult.
“Unlike the honorable Lady Hildegart and lovely Duchess Sheria.”
I ignored those who were talking excessively and looked at the driver. It was too much of a hassle to respond to each one,
“Where shall we go?”
Since there was no maid to explain on my behalf, I personally spoke to the driver.
“Go towards the slums.”
And with that, I got on the carriage without any escorts.
Although they followed me, muttering about how unrefined and uneducated I was, I didn’t care.
What does it matter when I won’t see their faces again?
Baroness Vaveloa probably won’t think it’s a perfect isolation or a big issue, but from my perspective, it was different.
I won’t ever return to this noble family.
I leaned against the firm backrest of the chair and opened the carriage window wide.
The mercenaries and some nobles who were talking about gossip regarding me near the carriage seemed confused.
“Everyone.”
I raised my middle finger in front of everyone.
They must know what it means. It’s an insult.
In a grand and elegant voice, like reading the Bible, I shouted,
“Eat shit!”
Once again, I have no intention of coming back.
With my noise-canceling ability covering up the noise, I closed the curtains tightly and sang a tune.
Let them all go to hell.
I’ll live well on my own!
