Taming the Obsessive Attachment: Chapter 18 Part 1

“Were you hungry? Why are you eating in such a hurry?”

Seo Ui-Woo lightly prodded the bulging cheeks of Jaejin with the tip of his finger. Kwon Jaejin frowned and glared at him while picking up a rolled omelette with his chopsticks.

The golden-browned rolled omelette was truly delicious. The layers of the soft egg with the salty roe popping in every bite was an art form in itself. Kwon Jaejin picked up another piece of the omelette and ate it.

Seo Ui-Woo pulled his chair right up next to Jaejin, propped his chin in his hand, and stared intently at Jaejin’s profile from an uncomfortably close distance. The intent in his gaze was too blatant to be mistaken for anything else.

‘…I’ll let it slide. Tsk.’

Jaejin sighed internally and stretched out his left hand. He was busy eating with his right hand, so the only hand he could offer was his left. Seo Ui-Woo’s eyes widened like a puppy who had just received a bone as a surprise gift.

“Huh.”

“Isn’t this what you came for? I can at least offer you one hand.”

After a few seconds of hesitation, Seo Ui-Woo slowly reached out and took Jaejin’s offered hand. He held it tightly, intertwining their fingers, then went even further to bury his face into the back of his hand.

It was as if Kwon Jaejin’s left hand was trapped in a box.

It was blocked below by Seo Ui-Woo’s palm, to the side by the interlocked fingers, and from above by his face.

“Jaejin… you do eat well, really…”

Seo Ui-Woo kissed the back of Jaejin’s hand and then licked it with his tongue.

“So it’s not the cooking you enjoy, but the actual eating…?”

After freshening up with a spoonful of stew, Jaejin also picked up a piece of abalone butter stir-fry. It was chewy and savory, simply insane in flavor. The raw smell was completely gone thanks to the Cheongju used in the preparation. Following an old habit, Jaejin picked up a piece of abalone and extended it towards Seo Ui-Woo.

Yet, Seo Ui-Woo only slightly lifted his grey eyes sideward to look, seemingly more satisfied licking Jaejin’s hand than eating the plump abalone.

“Aren’t you going to eat?”

“I won’t eat.”

Upon noticing those clear eyes showing no appetite, Jaejin put his chopsticks down.

Seo Ui-Woo’s imbalance could largely be narrowed down to three things.

The first was insomnia.

The second was anorexia, meaning a lack of appetite.

As evident, Seo Ui-Woo currently does not eat. He’s indifferent towards any food, often skips meals, and despite that, would drink alcohol, relying on combat rations and other convenience foods to fill his stomach. Such a lifestyle, however, was bound to become a thing of the distant past.

After all, it’s said that people should eat heartily and sleep in a warm bed. Even animal youngsters can act like humans if they’re well-fed and well-rested. If a kid can’t eat or sleep, they get messed up, but feed them and put them to bed, and they become tame quite easily.

These days, at least, Seo Ui-Woo seemed to sleep reasonably well every night with Kwon Jaejin by his side, but it was unclear when he would start eating properly.

“Seo Ui-Woo, you don’t eat, you don’t sleep… How have you been living all this time?”

“Pretending I’m fine.”

Seo Ui-Woo muttered softly and kissed the back of Jaejin’s hand deeply. Tracing the raised veins, he felt the protruding knuckles with his lips and kissed each joint as if savoring them.

“He pretended to be fine ever since he was at the center. Pretended to eat and sleep just like everyone else… Otherwise, he would have been discarded a long time ago.”

“Even though you’re the first Esper to be rated S-Class?”

“Because I’m the first Esper to get an S-Class rating. All the more reason.”

It’s dangerous.

Seo Ui-Woo answered with a muffled voice, his lips buried in Jaejin’s flesh.

He was an Esper with an extraordinary ability, and without the appearance of an S-Class Guide at his level, he carried a significantly higher risk of going berserk.

An absurdly dangerous and powerful being.

“When I was young and foolish, I used to wait for a guide suitable for me to be born. At some point, I gave up. Rather than waiting forever, I had to prove it myself.”

“…Prove?”

“That Seo Ui-Woo can fight without proper guidance, and what’s missing can be sufficiently replaced with drugs. That Seo Ui-Woo is useful.”

He regressed to the first day of confinement. 4 years ago, Kwon Jae-jin, an ordinary person, appeared as the only guide for the S-class esper Seo Eui-woo. Seo Eui-woo kidnapped him and demanded that he be guided without consent. “Shall we check now? I wonder if you are a guide that matches me or not.” “Hurts, it hurts, ah, ngh! Ugh…… Stop……!” “See, you can do guiding on me…….” Seo Eui-woo’s crazy behavior, which seemed ruthless at first glance, had a good reason, and after 4 years that felt like war, Jae-jin eventually understood and accepted Seo Eui-woo. Not only that, he was taken in by Seo Eui-woo’s persistent love offensive and their relationship developed romantically! They lived happily ever after……! ……It would’ve been great if it had ended with such a happy ending. One sunny day, a gate in the yard burst, and Kwon Jae-jin got caught in it. He died with his limbs torn to pieces. BAD ENDING. That was the story of Kwon Jae-jin’s first life before returning to this point.
