After finishing his speech, Seo Ui-woo reached out slowly, ever so slowly, toward Kwon Jae-jin’s forehead. Jae-jin’s vision blurred. His fingers appeared to tremble and multiply. An invisible force seemed to be condensing in that spot.
It swept in gently, spinning in a whirlpool pattern, converging into a single point.
It was like a compressed crystalline substance.
Invisible to human eyes, but definitely existing at the tip of Seo Ui-woo’s hand. A beauty so mesmerizing and majestic, a sinister and cunning force, like a coiled serpent.
Kwon Jae-jin looked at Seo Ui-woo, spellbound by the strange enchantment.
For a fleeting moment, he thought he wouldn’t mind being devoured by that glorious terror.
It would be peaceful. Forgetting everything.
All the built-up emotions could be erased.
And maybe, it would be possible to start fresh. Pleasantly.
Finally, Kwon Jae-jin realized just how stupid and idiotic those complacent thoughts were. How could he be this dumb? This deliriously foolish!
“…No, that’s not enough.”
Kwon Jae-jin growled menacingly, as a threat.
Guides and Espers.
Business partners who cooperate and support each other. Colleagues. Clean and straightforward bullshit, that was an impossible relationship between Kwon Jae-jin and Seo Ui-woo.
“To end it like this…? It can’t end this way. If it’s going to be like this, why did I go through all this hardship… I will never, no matter what, end things with such an escapist method. I’d rather die torn to shreds.”
It just wasn’t possible.
Be it attachments or a waste of time and emotions,
No matter what they may be.
Even if the future has already changed completely…
Even if Seo Ui-woo no longer loves Kwon Jae-jin…!
‘Screwed, damn it!’
At least, Kwon Jae-jin couldn’t accept it right now. He couldn’t let go of Seo Ui-woo into oblivion. That was the only thought dominating his mind.
“Don’t do it! Take your hand off!”
“Mr. Jae-jin, it’s dangerous. If you lash out suddenly, you might touch something else by mistake. Stay still, just like that…”
“No, don’t do it. Stop right now. Don’t touch my memories!”
Jae-jin lashed out with his arm, moving without thinking. With all his might, his clenched fist struck Seo Ui-woo on the cheek, and Ui-woo did not protect his face.
The cheek that was pushed back by the bare fist swelled up red.
The mark on his pale, clear face was undeniably conspicuous.
“I refuse that. I say no, Mr. Seo Ui-woo.”
Kwon Jae-jin gasped for air and shook his head with a firm resolution.
“I have made it clear that I dislike it. I hate it. I don’t like it. I will find a solution to this situation on my own, and even if forgetting is the only option, I will choose to forget on my own.”
“……”
“I don’t need your help, Mr. Seo Ui-woo. I never asked for it, so don’t interfere carelessly!”
Kwon Jae-jin realized firsthand what adverse effects choosing the easy and comfortable shortcut could have.
Without a thought, attempting to change the future led to this predicament.
Erasing memories with Seo Ui-woo’s power was the same. It wasn’t possible to resolve everything so easily. Rather, Kwon Jae-jin had to think about each problem given to him, no matter how tormenting, painful, or unbearable, and work through them.
That was the way Kwon Jae-jin and Seo Ui-woo had always done things, and that’s how they had formed their relationship.
“Was it me… Did I interfere?”
Seo Ui-woo muttered coldly, his voice devoid of any intonation.
“No. You are my guide, Mr. Jae-jin. It must have been you who butted into our relationship. Don’t you still understand? Or what… do you like that person so much?”
Even after being squarely punched in the face, he did not stop his supernatural ability.
For an ordinary person like Kwon Jae-jin, it wasn’t enough to make Seo Ui-woo even blink an eye. He merely scrunched his nose and chuckled.
“Memories that are painful to go back to and to think about, do you love what your lover or whatever is that much that you despise and reject them!”
The crystallized force at the fingertips spread even more dazzlingly. Jae-jin’s complexion turned deathly pale.
“That’s not what I meant.”
