Six days had passed since Seo Uiwoo received some kind of emergency call and left, yet he had not returned home. It seemed that he was probably assigned to a long business trip. There had been times in the first round when he was away from home for a long time, but Jaejin couldn’t remember whether it had happened around this time of the year or not.
Kwon Jaejin was lying alone on a stark white bed, blankly staring at the ceiling. In the middle of the open glass ceiling, the detestable face of Seo Uiwoo annoyingly surfaced and flickered before his eyes. Is he going crazy? Jaejin quickly pulled the blanket over his face. It was a futile escape. Even with his eyes closed, he thought of Seo Uiwoo. When he slept, he dreamed of Seo Uiwoo.
‘How can he not return for six whole days after something like that happened.’ Could it be because the future had changed? He felt anxious. The thought crossed his mind that Seo Uiwoo might die during a mission. He was confused about whether there had been such a long trip in the first round, whether he had returned safely, and his memories of the first round only increased his restlessness.
The future Kwon Jaejin knew had become useless. It was completely twisted. Seo Uiwoo had even tried to erase Kwon Jaejin’s memories, so it wouldn’t be strange if something happened during this chaos. Whether Seo Uiwoo died, was seriously injured, or something else… ‘Damn it…’ It was worrisome that Seo Uiwoo had not returned, but it was also worrisome if he did return.
‘What if that bastard tries to erase my memories again?’ Given Seo Uiwoo’s personality, that was certainly what he would do. Unless there was some unforeseen catastrophe, he’d persistently intervene. Kwon Jaejin curled up under the blanket, then punched the mattress hard. He grabbed a pillow, threw it, and got out of bed.
‘What should I do… Forget Seo Uiwoo? Should I really forget all about him?’ If the memories of Seo Uiwoo from the first round were erased, surely he would also forget his life entangled with him from the first round. It would mean those past four years would be completely wiped out. That would leave Kwon Jaejin unaware of his own regression, as if this life was his first, as if he had met Seo Uiwoo for the first time, reset.
‘Maybe I could even go back.’ If he forgot Seo Uiwoo from the first round, Kwon Jaejin would surely become rebellious, despising and loathing Seo Uiwoo, having only the life of an ordinary person left. It was certain he would make a commotion trying to escape this house, refusing guiding and everything else. He would fight with Seo Uiwoo, steal and fire his gun, secretly cut himself with his favorite knife, endure persistent treatment with a healing factor, ultimately being tied up in handcuffs.
‘After going through all that mess, maybe the Seo Uiwoo from the second round will end up like the one from the first round. Seo Uiwoo who was regretful and remorseful. Seo Uiwoo, Kwon Jaejin’s lover. The one I knew, the one I accepted… Won’t he come back to that?’ If Kwon Jaejin had to forget Seo Uiwoo to return to him, then erasing his memories was also a viable option to consider. Although making such an unjustified and absurd assumption was ridiculous, on some level, it also seemed like a not so bad idea.
‘I’m losing it. I’m not in my right mind. Well, after spending four years with that crazy Seo Uiwoo, it’s no wonder I’m losing my sanity too. It’s all Seo Uiwoo’s fault. He’s made me like this.’ Jaejin staggered to the kitchen. As he walked down the hallway, he kicked the innocent walls and beat them with his fists for no reason.
Once in the kitchen, Jaejin took out his cherished knife and went down to the wine storeroom. Expensive liquors were neatly on display against the spacious wall, under dim lighting. There was every kind of strong drink. Vodka, martini, whiskey, brandy, rum, tequila… Holding his cherished knife, Kwon Jaejin tinged the bottles on display as he walked from one end to the other until he picked up a clear bottle of tequila and opened it. He gulped it down from the bottle and wiped his mouth.
‘That bastard. That damn Seo Uiwoo.’ Kwon Jaejin was in disarray, tormented by Seo Uiwoo both in the first and second round. That guy was truly insane. While pouring alcohol on an empty stomach, Jaejin took a crystal bottle of pretty whiskey and a wine bottle with his birth year on it, tucking them under his arm.
