Kwon Jae-jin let out a hollow laugh as he watched Seo Ui-woo, who had suddenly become uncharacteristically cautious.
Since the moment Seo Ui-woo gave his eye, or perhaps even from the moment he gave his memory—maybe even long before that—Kwon Jae-jin had been conquered by Seo Ui-woo.
Now, he couldn’t abandon their past together, nor could he give up on their future together.
Seo Ui-woo was Kwon Jae-jin’s daily life and his very existence.
<No matter how much of a mess we were, we would have ended up like this anyway.>
<I love everything you do, Jae-jin. Don’t you feel the same?>
In such a relationship, what could possibly matter?
Why hesitate now? It’s disheartening.
“I… actually, I’ve never really trusted anyone.”
Seo Ui-woo murmured calmly with a static smile.
The expression on his face was new. Once again, Kwon Jae-jin was seeing a side of Seo Ui-woo he didn’t know. It felt like he was getting closer to the true Seo Ui-woo.
“As you know, since my training days, I had to live by repeatedly telling perfect lies. So I want to trust you, Jae-jin, but it’s not that easy.”
“Yes… I understand what you mean. You had to pretend to be fine, to act like everything was okay since you were young.”
“Right.”
“So, are you still thinking about it now? Trying to pretend with me? Why bother with such unnecessary worries? Just speak.”
“…”
“I trust you, Seo Ui-woo, and I hope you trust me just as much. Just say it. No matter what you say, it won’t matter anymore.”
“…Do you really want that?”
Kwon Jae-jin nodded firmly.
Seo Ui-woo confirmed once more.
“No, don’t just nod. Answer carefully.”
“What… yes?”
“If I trust you and tell you the truth, will it really be okay? Will everything really be fine?”
“I told you before, yes.”
“Are you sure? Completely sure?”
“Well, I mean, yes, but why do you keep…”
Seo Ui-woo slowly approached, locking eyes with Kwon Jae-jin. His shadow enveloped Kwon Jae-jin as if trapping him in an embrace. His strong, marble-like arms held Jae-jin tightly.
So tightly that he couldn’t escape.
“Jae-jin.”
“Yes.”
“You have a hole in your head.”
“Yes?”
Seo Ui-woo pressed his forehead against Kwon Jae-jin’s.
Taking a rough breath, he whispered monotonously.
“There’s a large, dark hole. It’s significantly big and cleanly removed.”
His voice sounded both cold and sorrowful.
“Your memory, Jae-jin… it’s already been erased.”
“…”
“Probably before the regression, it must have been me who erased it when we first met.”
“…”
Like a frozen statue, Kwon Jae-jin stiffened.
He stood still, as if forgetting to breathe, gradually isolating from his surroundings.
Seo Ui-woo’s whisper right beside him felt distant. Like someone submerged in water, he couldn’t hear properly. He couldn’t grasp what was being said or the situation at all.
It didn’t feel real.
“I can guess. It must have been the same thing I failed to do before. What you long for, what you left behind in the sixth residential area… erased with psychic abilities.”
“Already erased…? What memory…?”
“To leave such a large hole, it must have been someone significant in your life. Since childhood… not a lover, but maybe… a family member…”
