The Villain Has a Crush on Me Chapter 7

Chapter 7: Murder

Mo Chu hurriedly returned to the warehouse, only to find the worst-case scenario.

The warehouse door was wide open, and the two zombie bodies she had used as a disguise were moved aside.

Someone had broken in!

Her heart sank, and she walked quickly. Before reaching the entrance, she heard a voice from inside, filled with fear and urgency, “Bro, this is a half-zombie. Let’s kill him before he turns into one!”

Mo Chu stepped inside and saw a man and a woman standing next to Li Chen’s bed, holding him captive. The man was raising a kitchen knife threateningly towards Li Chen, its edge gleaming with a chilling light.

At this moment, Li Chen was still unconscious. He had even asked Mo Chu to tie him up, fearing that he might turn into a zombie and pose a threat to others.

He was completely defenseless!

Mo Chu’s mind went blank. She saw the knife about to fall, and without thinking, she drew out her dagger and threw it with all her might!

Under her full force, the handle of the dagger directly collided with the man’s hand holding the knife. In pain, he couldn’t hold onto the kitchen knife, and both the knife and the dagger fell to the ground.

Mo Chu rushed over quickly, first retrieving her weapon from the ground, and then shielding Li Chen in front of them, staring coldly at the intruders.

The man who had tried to attack was still in shock, while the girl behind Mo Chu was furious. She looked at Mo Chu in disbelief and said, “Are you crazy? He’s infected! He’s about to turn into one! Why are you protecting him?”

Mo Chu remained unfazed and said in a stern voice, “He’s my friend. He’s here to recuperate. I can overlook you breaking in, but I suggest you leave quickly!”

Although Mo Chu said this, her heart was on high alert.

Because the two people in front of her were both ability users, and their abilities were offensive in nature.

Though Mo Chu had six years of experience, her physical strength and muscle reactions couldn’t keep up now. The previous use of her healing ability had also taken a toll on her.

While she could handle ordinary zombies or one or two regular guys if these two ability users insisted on attacking her… Mo Chu could only choose to fight them with everything she had.

However, it seemed like Mo Chu’s words had led the girl in front of her to misunderstand something. The girl frowned, glanced at Li Chen behind Mo Chu, and tried to suppress her displeasure as she said,

“Maybe you don’t know, but the zombie virus is contagious. When humans are scratched or bitten by them, they get infected with the zombie virus. Your friend is already infected, and he will turn into a zombie soon. We need to kill him before that happens. I know he’s your friend, and you can’t do it, but please…”

“I know,” Mo Chu interrupted her incessant talk.

The girl paused, as if she hadn’t heard clearly, and furrowed her brows, asking again, “What did you say?”

Mo Chu said calmly, “I said, I know. I know he’s infected, I know his condition now, and I know he will turn into a zombie after being infected. But I believe he won’t compromise with the virus. He is Li Chen, and he will overcome whatever comes his way. But right now, he is still a human! And you, attacking him while he’s still human, is committing murder!”

Her words landed heavily.

After Mo Chu finished speaking, the girl first looked stunned and then furious. She seemed to disbelieve that her good intentions were being misunderstood. She questioned Mo Chu, “You are protecting this zombie, and we offer you help, yet you accuse us of murder?”

Mo Chu glanced at her and reiterated, “I said, he is not a zombie. If you kill him now, you are killing a human.”

The girl wanted to argue further, but the man beside her stopped her. He looked at Mo Chu and said, “You should know that everyone we’ve encountered who was infected with the zombie virus turned into a zombie. If you don’t kill him now, you might face an irrational zombie in the future.”

Mo Chu glanced at him and simply replied, “He won’t.”

The man laughed in frustration, “What if he does turn into a zombie?”

Mo Chu paused for a moment and said, “Then I’ll be the one to kill him.”

Before the man could say anything, the girl beside him seemed to be infuriated by Mo Chu’s “ingratitude” for ability users, especially those with low-level abilities and inadequate control over their powers, it’s easy to lose control when emotions run high.

While her brother had not yet noticed anything amiss, Mo Chu had already sensed something was wrong and raised her guard.

Sure enough, the next moment, Mo Chu saw a black circle appear under the girl’s feet. As her anger was directed toward Mo Chu, a thin black line immediately separated from the black circle and crawled toward Mo Chu.

Mo Chu sensed the danger.

She was about to dodge when suddenly a red fire line emerged from behind her, fiercely entangling the approaching black line. The black line almost instantly dissipated, but the fire line didn’t stop there. It continued in the direction the black line came from, almost wrapping around the girl.

The girl’s brother reacted faster than the girl herself. He instantly pulled his sister away and warily looked at what was behind Mo Chu.

Mo Chu’s heart was pounding rapidly.

This… was Li Chen.

Li Chen… succeeded!

But when she turned her head, she found that Li Chen hadn’t woken up yet; he was still unconscious. However, a few strands of the fire lines spread from his body and encircled Mo Chu completely, as if protecting her, silently confronting the enemies.

Mo Chu’s feelings were complicated and hard to put into words.

“…Brother,” she heard the girl speak, her voice tinged with faint fear.

Ability users were most sensitive to the threats posed by other ability users. However, the threat from Li Chen was only perceived by the two siblings because Mo Chu was within the protective circle of his fire lines.

Mo Chu collected herself and turned her head to look at the two siblings.

The girl was surrounded by a clear circle of fire lines, illuminating her usually non-threatening and almost ethereal appearance. Yet, it exuded an unmistakable sense of inviolability. Her expression remained calm, just as it was before, but the expressions of the two siblings changed, especially the girl’s. The arrogance of an ability user over ordinary people had completely disappeared from her demeanor.

Mo Chu calmly lifted her head, and a blue halo appeared in her hand.

She looked at them and asked, “Are you ability users?”

The man among the siblings replied, “Yes.”

Mo Chu continued, “Coincidentally, I am an ability user too. You know that ordinary people infected with the zombie virus will turn into zombies, that’s right. But perhaps you don’t know that there’s also a chance for ordinary people to awaken abilities after being infected with the zombie virus.”

The man looked at Mo Chu and then at Li Chen behind her, his expression as if he had seen a ghost.

Mo Chu retracted the halo in her hand and said, “So, when you attacked him just now, you were committing murder.”

The man didn’t know what to say, and a hint of shame appeared on his face. The girl seemed somewhat unwilling to accept it and wanted to say something but was pulled away by her brother.

Mo Chu continued, “Now, leave.” Her expression was emotionless as she looked at them.

After gaining abilities, some people chose to act recklessly, while others chose to self-righteously uphold justice.

The latter was better than the former, but if it was done without even considering the consequences, it wasn’t much better.

This time, they didn’t say anything further. The man quickly pulled his sister and left.

After they left, Mo Chu quickly sealed the warehouse door again. Throughout the process, the fire lines remained persistently protecting her.

Mo Chu stopped and extended her hand slightly, attempting to touch those fire lines.

As soon as she reached out, the fire lines recoiled as if she had burned them, hastily retreating as if in a panic.

Mo Chu couldn’t help but chuckle.

She approached Li Chen’s side.

Li Chen’s body was surrounded by a faint red glow. He had awakened his ability, but he still hadn’t regained consciousness. In fact, his complexion seemed to be worsening.

Mo Chu knew that this was a critical moment. He would either wake up and become an ability user or lose his sanity and become one of the most powerful and aggressive ability-infected zombies.

However, Mo Chu was incredibly convinced that he would wake up. It wasn’t because of any memories from her past life, but it came from her inner conviction.

She looked at the red glow around him, and her emotions were complicated.

When the two siblings raised their blades against themselves, Li Chen didn’t resist, but when Mo Chu was in danger, even in his unconscious state, he used his ability to protect her.

In her past life, Li Chen had said “I like you” when Mo Chu was on the verge of death. She didn’t know when he started liking her, or even why he liked her.

However, in this life, Mo Chu and Li Chen had only known each other for a few days, and they barely knew each other’s names, yet Li Chen still chose to protect her.

She didn’t know if Li Chen still liked her in this life, but at this moment, all she wanted to do was to say thank you to him.

‘Thank you for liking me, but I am not worthy.’

Mo Chu bent down and took out a bottle of water and a bag of oatmeal from her backpack, mixing them into a liquid to feed Li Chen.

Li Chen was surprisingly cooperative, and even in his unconscious state, Mo Chu found it effortless to feed him.

After feeding him the oatmeal, she hesitated for a moment and leaned down to whisper “thank you” into Li Chen’s ear, even though he couldn’t hear it.

In the afternoon, Mo Chu heard the sound of a helicopter flying over the city, and at the same time, she heard the cheers of many survivors in the city as they came out of hiding places to see. The city, once dead and lifeless, seemed to come alive again.

At the same time, all electronic devices in the city received a message after six days of signal loss:

“All survivors, travel light and wait for the rescue team to arrive tomorrow. Please confirm whether you have a fever or any wounds. Special ability users, please report when entering the rescue team.”

“Fellow humans, the disaster has arrived, but humanity will forge ahead.”

When Mo Chu saw this message, she heard the cheers of the entire city. The survivors, who had been hiding and evading zombies for so many days, didn’t care if their cheers attracted the undead. They cheered for hope.

Humanity still had hope, and the people they trusted had not abandoned them.

Only Mo Chu’s hands trembled slightly when she heard this message.

Only she knew that this message was the last one received by all electronic devices, and from then on, they would be almost cut off from the rest of the world.

Tomorrow, the military, who had recovered from the devastation, would lead all the people in the city to leave, and from then on, various survival zones, supported by the military, major families, and powerful ability users, would flourish around the city, starting from nothing.

The city, due to its large population and unique terrain, had almost become a nest of zombies after the apocalypse, and it was no longer suitable for human habitation.

Since the day humans left the cities, they never returned. In Mo Chu’s previous life, in the sixth year of the apocalypse, humans finally initiated the “Return to the City Plan.”

And tomorrow marks the beginning of a new history, the true opening of humanity’s response to the end of days.

But on that day, will Li Chen wake up?

The Villain Has a Crush on Me

Mo Chu didn’t know until her death in her last life that the villain who made all human beings shudder actually liked her, and he was the one who snatched her back from the hands of death many times.
It’s a pity that she never had the chance to say thank you to him.
Opening her eyes again, she returned to the very beginning, when the weak villain was thrown into the pile of zombies in front of her.
In her previous life, she was too busy to take care of herself and could do nothing. It was not until later that she knew what he had gone through in order to survive.
In this life, she resolutely picked him up from the crowd of zombies.
She said, “Let’s go.”
ـــــــ
When Li Chen was pushed into the group of zombies by his brother, he was full of absurdity and irony. He looked at the people hiding behind the group of zombies mockingly, and closed his eyes in a dull mood.
Then he was held by a hand, and the woman said to him in the sea of corpses and blood: “Let’s go.”
Since then, he never let go of those hands.
ـــــــ
Later, Li Chen asked her: Why did you save me in the first place?
The girl in front of him smiled gently, and said softly: I want to say thank you to you.
