Absolute Regression: Chapter 2 Part 3

Did he shed a lot of blood? He was in a state of unconsciousness. Instead of waking him up and supporting him, the ghost spoke softly.
“… I’m sorry.”
He had made up his mind to go back to the past.
“I’m really sorry.”
He felt even more sorry because he knew how difficult it had been for this man to gather the materials. But these materials were something that could not be obtained again.
“I will definitely go find you and tell you about the future burdens to come. I promise.”
The ghost stood up and turned towards the light.
“Going back to the past has been a lifelong wish of our family. It was my wish as well.”
At that moment when he was about to walk towards the light.
“Ugh.”
The ghost hesitated and stopped in his tracks.
The evil cave had suddenly been suppressed. He couldn’t even tell when it had been suppressed.
A sluggish voice came from behind.
“How could you do this?”
The man, who he thought had lost his mind, stood up from his seat.
“Look at this.”
The ghost’s voice trembled with fear.
The man who had stumbled walked up to the ghost and stopped in front of him.
“It’s only you… how could you do this!”
The man grasped the ghost’s neck. The aged and frail neck of the ghost seemed as if it would break at any moment.
“… I must have lost my mind. Ah, sorry. I’m really sorry.”
The ghost thought the man was going to kill him. Yes, even if others didn’t know, he shouldn’t have been like this. Only he knew how difficult it had been for the man to prepare these vital materials.
Then the man let go of the ghost’s neck.
“I’m a selfish person too. I could only have collected those materials because I knew nothing else but that. So it’s alright. If it were someone else, they would have killed you on the spot, but I understand only you.”
The man didn’t scold the ghost. Instead, he sincerely and warmly spoke with his eyes.
“Thank you for waiting for me all your life.”
Tears welled up in the ghost’s eyes at the man’s sincere words. He felt both sorry and regretful. They could have had a more beautiful parting. They really could have.
It was at that moment when tears began to fall.
As if it were a lie, the world came to a stop.
“Huh?”
The man looked around in surprise. Every movement had stopped. The butterflies that were flying froze in mid-air, and the grass leaves that were swaying in the wind remained still on the ground.
The ghost standing in front of him was the same. His tears remained suspended in the air.
The man wondered if he was seeing things because he had lost a lot of blood.
And then, a man appeared in the place where time had stopped except for the man.
“You’ve passed all the tests.”
The man asked in astonishment, “Who are you?”
“I am the one who can send you to the past.”
“!”
“How can a mere human defy heaven’s will? Did you think that a mere creature like You could make it possible?”
When the old man raised his hand, the five objects that the man had collected all his life reappeared around him. They were the materials that had disappeared along with the grand law.
In that moment, the man understood. The old man was a being beyond human.
“The real material of this grand law is not these objects, but the efforts you have made to collect them.”
When the old man waved his hand, the objects disappeared like smoke.
“You have passed the test. You have lived your whole life sacrificing yourself for just one purpose. And forgiving that ghost was the final test. In fact, it was the most difficult test, and you passed it the easiest.”
The man trembled all over. He had thought that the sky was indifferent and therefore didn’t exist. But in front of his eyes was an existence that was considered the sky. Soon, surprise turned into anger.
“Do you have to put in so much effort just to get a response from you? Are you that great of an existence?”
“Don’t be so angry. People can see me more easily than you. There are people who meet me every day. One thing, as much as your wish, is not something that can be easily granted, don’t you think?”
The man reluctantly agreed with those words. It’s not like he was becoming wealthy or marrying a beautiful woman.
