Chapter 4 Part 2

“Yes. Is there a problem?”

“Not at all. I just wanted to give you this.”

What the elderly man handed over was a black plastic bag.

When I opened the bag, it was full of potatoes.

“Why are you giving me this…?”

“We had a particularly good potato harvest this time. I’m sharing them with the neighbors, and it looked like you were here alone, so I thought I should give you some.”

Touched by his generous spirit, I gratefully accepted the potatoes.

“Thank you. I’ll make sure to enjoy them.”

“Hehe, I hope I’m not intruding.”

“Not at all. I love potatoes. You must have a large potato farm, then?”

“Not large, just about 5,000 square meters.”

5,000 square meters of just potatoes. Clearly, he was a professional farmer.

“Do you sell your potatoes separately?”

“Potatoes?”

“Yes.”

“Well, here’s my business card. Contact me whenever you need some. We even deliver, so you don’t have to come here.”

“Understood.”

Left alone again, I took out a potato from the bag.

I had been thinking about planting crops after settling the saplings, but seeing these potatoes gave me the idea to plant them first.

“Milk, we’ll plant potatoes first. What do you think?”

“Purr.”

Milk’s happy purr brought a smile to my face.

Potatoes grow well in cold and barren lands.

Although it doesn’t match the temperature of the other dimension, it’s not an impossible environment for growing potatoes.

I had some experience planting potatoes during a rural experience in my childhood, so starting with potatoes seemed most reasonable.

“Should I use these for cooking today?”

I stored the bag in the truck and launched the drone into the sky.

I filmed from above, focusing on the West Sea and the sandy beach.

This was my second time controlling the drone, so it went much better than the first time.

I checked the footage from the drone, and double-checked the footage from the camera set up on the tripod.

However, something felt missing.

After reviewing it several times, I realized why it felt that way.

The initial landscape was too beautiful, it seemed.

“Well, the lake there was cheating.”

The current video quality was not bad, so I decided to use it.

I concluded the shooting by strolling along the beach with the camera.

* * *

It was time to prepare dinner.

I put on a microphone for ASMR, and thoroughly washed my hands.

Unlike the first video where I cooked ramen, this time I intended to cook a proper meal.

First, I washed some rice and put it in the rice cooker.

Next, I brought out a pot, a gas stove, and a camping chopping board knife set.

Today’s ingredients were 600g of pork for stew, onions, zucchinis, enoki mushrooms, and the unexpected potatoes.

‘Can’t have any stains on this.’

I placed a foil paper on the chopping board, and chopped the zucchini, green onions, and onions into edible sizes.

I peeled the potatoes using a peeler I had brought just in case.

I briefly stored them on a plate and pushed it aside, I needed to make the sauce first.

I took out gochujang (red pepper paste), doenjang (soybean paste), and chili oil.

At first, I wanted to make chili oil using soybean oil, red pepper powder, and minced garlic, but decided it would be more efficient to use ready-made chili oil.

I put water in the pot on the gas stove, and dissolved chili oil, doenjang, and gochujang one by one, bringing it to a boil.

The rich scent of the sauce made my mouth water

.

I added the chopped potatoes first and let it boil.

After the potatoes, which take the longest to cook, I added the prepared pork and boiled it further.

When the potatoes were somewhat cooked, I added all the prepared onions, zucchini, and enoki mushrooms.

‘The taste needs a bit of adjustment.’

After tasting the soup with a spoon, I took out some salt and adjusted the taste.

After boiling for about 5 more minutes, the pork and potato stew was complete.

‘I followed the recipe I found online, did it work out?’

This was my first time cooking something other than ramen, so I was a bit worried.

The rice from the rice cooker was done, and I scooped it into a bowl.

“Bon appétit.”

I scooped up some meat first and brought it to my mouth.

As expected from aged raw meat, it was incredibly tender.

This time, I took a spoonful of rice and tasted the soup.

The spicy soup tasted excellent.

‘Do I have a talent for cooking?’

It was a huge success for my first try at making stew.

Should I try being a chef?

While paying attention to the microphone and camera, I ate the potatoes and vegetables in order.

Eating delicious food on the beach, a happy smile naturally formed on my face.

Although it was more food than usual, I ate everything without leaving any behind.

“That was delicious.”

I washed the empty dishes, and boiled water in a coffee pot.

I had also prepared dessert for today.
