Hardworking Pay-to-Win Knight: Chapter 7

A Busy Billing Knight Episode 2
I run. The Garden of Tranquility is located inside the Yeongju Castle, so the distance is not far.
“Oh~ Ro-ro-ro-ro!”
A height close to 2 meters. Shoulders that appear to be about 1.3 meters wide. Muscles packed tightly all over the body.
A green monster with an appearance more closely resembling a combat weapon than a living creature swings an axe that seems to weigh over 10 kilograms.
“I can’t stop it.”
I, too, am the owner of a trained body, but it is impossible to fight against such a monster’s strength. If I try to block it head-on, it will simply bounce off my defense and roll on the ground.
That’s why I look at the monster.
I see the direction its gaze is pointing, its bulging muscles, its rotating joints, and its weight shifting on the planted right foot.
And then I do the same.
I walk.
Whoosh!
As the iron axe passes by, cutting through my hair, I feel a strong pressure deforming my skin. The orc’s eyes widen at the attack that cleanly missed.
Whooch!
My sword pierces the monster’s neck.
“Crkk! Grool! Keok! Keueok!”
Surprisingly, the orc falls to the ground and thrashes about while swinging its axe in all directions.
Although it had an impressive amount of vitality, it can’t withstand a fatal injury like having its neck pierced.
Thud!
The corpse falls. A clean victory.
However, I can’t rejoice in the victory.
“The hide….”
It cannot be compared to the flimsy human skin. Its hide is so tough that I almost lost my grip on the sword for a moment.
“It won’t even be pierced by ordinary arrows.”
Unless it’s a crossbow bolt shot from a steel bow, it’s possible to just fight while getting hit. That’s how tough these monsters are.
And there are more of them.
“Oh~~ Ro-ro-ro-ro!”
“Oh~ Ro-ro-ro!”
“Hahaha! Humans! They’re humans!”
“Oh-ro-ro! Run, run~! Oh~ Ro-ro-ro-ro!”
They are pouring out from the pillar of light.
I immediately hold my breath and shout.
“All knights! Lead the soldiers and immediately retreat with the citizens! Get as far away from the pillar of light as possible and regroup! The regrouping point is the training grounds! Repeat! The regrouping point is the training grounds!”
As I shout resoundingly, the soldiers who were wavering between fighting or fleeing start leading the citizens and begin to escape. The territory only consists of a small number of citizens, about 3,000, but the soldiers’ training is excellent nonetheless.
The Yeongju citizens who transformed from bandits to mercenaries to soldiers with the help of the territory’s lord—me—constitutes half of the total citizens. Among them, those who are even skilled enough to become soldiers are the elite of the elite.
Moreover, with me, who is only a knight in our territory, leading the command, we were able to organize a retreat in the midst of extreme chaos.
“Huab!”
I bend the orc’s neck by making deliberately more brutish noises. Above the fallen orc’s head, there are these words written in red, with blood spraying out.
Balkan Orc Warrior (Advanced)
“This is crazy. Is this really a game?”
I recalled the fact that they say you can return to Earth by logging out, and an unimaginable hypothesis came to mind.
“No. That’s impossible.”
After a short moment, I dismissed the thought. I, too, am a Korean man. I have experienced virtual reality games and have no reason to confuse reality and virtuality.
Especially after 20 vivid years.
It’s an experience that cannot be implemented as a mere game or a dreamlike thing. The clear understanding of the situation that I have at this very moment proves it.
“In other words, this situation is… more than that.”
I established a major premise in my mind.
1. Ardenia is a real world.
2. However, even so, the game system has been applied to Ardenia.
Thinking this far, something suddenly came to mind.
“This is like… something I saw in a textbook before, a ‘stage’.”
About 70 years ago, in other words, in 2019.
The peaceful Earth faced an unprecedented crisis.
