Chapter 18 Return to the Monitoring Station
Kimchi, the price to enter the dream, the price that must be paid will eventually be collected.
When the tentacles entwined around the two cans of food, Mo Ling understood its purpose.
Li Luo quickly realized this too and put away her weapon.
In Mo Ling’s vision, the inside of the black tentacles kept pulsating.
Following the tentacles to look inside the black hole, Mo Ling’s perspective suddenly passed through the black hole and arrived in a strange place.
Still the familiar kimchi space.
The tentacles set down the kimchi, passed through the metal floor, as if guiding Mo Ling to somewhere.
Arriving outside, it was still the dream city of dawn.
But the perspective kept getting bigger, the dawn city shrinking in Mo Ling’s sight.
Mo Ling’s view slowly rose, passing through skyscrapers, reaching the sky.
In the end, the dawn city turned into a pixel, a pixel on a colored panel.
Mo Ling came to himself, seeing a huge colorful vibration beast.
The colorful vibration beast slowly rotated in space, emitting a thunderous roar that shook the world. It extended a colorful tentacle, greeting Mo Ling.
After seeing this scene, Mo Ling was suddenly squeezed out of the dream space.
He stood still.
What was that?
Dream, is a vibration beast?
…
Li Luo drove out of the valley.
Just as she was about to leave the valley, she heard the familiar vibration coming from inside the valley.
Li Luo stopped the car, turned her head to look.
There were still survivors in the valley, vibrations that had not been infected by the red string worms.
The car returned along the original road, heading towards the Seventh Monitoring Station.
Mo Ling was still thinking about the colorful vibration beast he saw in the dream space. He realized he still knew too little about the Abyss.
During this time, Li Luo had been reviewing the previous records, constantly searching and uploading data in the database, seeming to have gained a lot.
Two days later, Li Luo drove back to the Seventh Monitoring Station.
Du Kang was already waiting at the door, pacing back and forth like an ant on a hot pan.
Seeing Li Luo come back, he hurried up and kept looking Li Luo over, asking with concern, “Are you injured?”
Li Luo shook her head.
Du Kang walked around the car again, finally relieved after confirming that Li Luo was indeed uninjured.
“How dare you take on such a task? Even a second-class hunter like me requires a full team to go,” Du Kang asked seriously.
Li Luo answered seriously, “Split up.”
Du Kang’s expression was strange, but he still comforted, “It’s fine, as long as you’re back. Now you know the difficulties, right? It’s okay if the mission failed, as long as you’re unhurt.”
Li Luo looked at Du Kang as if he was silly, “Succeeded.”
Du Kang was stunned, unbelievably asking, “Succeeded? The 1000 point investigation mission?”
“Yes, the 1000 point investigation mission you asked me to take,” Li Luo replied.
Du Kang hurriedly waved his hand, “I didn’t ask you to take it! But you really completed it?”
Li Luo didn’t say anything, but took out the electronic screen.
The screen showed that all the mission data had been uploaded, and the completion status displayed three big words: Completed.
Not only that, other data was still being audited, if these data were true, the points would be more than 1000.
Du Kang’s expression was extremely awkward, finding it hard to believe.
Not long after, he let it go, sighing, “Good thing, good thing.”
Li Luo asked again, “Where can I submit biological samples?”
“Do you want to submit samples? Let me take you directly to Stationmaster Liang’s research institute,” Du Kang said.
Following the hall towards the deep end of the monitoring station, a large door appeared in front of them.
Du Kang scanned his pupils at the door, which then opened.
This was a huge research institute occupying several levels of space, where various researchers were busy operating instruments in front of them.
Stationmaster Liang obviously didn’t expect Du Kang to bring Li Luo to him.
After hearing Du Kang’s explanation, Stationmaster Liang looked at Li Luo in surprise.
“So you completed that mission! Many of the data you uploaded are very useful,” Stationmaster Liang said in surprise after hearing Du Kang’s story.
When a group of researchers learned that the girl in front of them was the one who completed the vibration beast anomaly mission, they hurriedly surrounded them.
“I have some questions about the form changes of those vibration beasts! Can you tell me in detail?” one researcher asked.
“Are you sure the red string worms can indeed parasitize on the dream unicorn?” another asked.
“How did you wake up after falling into the dream world?” a third researcher inquired.
“Based on your data, I speculate that the habits of the dream unicorn may be like this…” another researcher chimed in.
…
Seeing this, Stationmaster Liang quickly shooed away the enthusiastic researchers and took Li Luo and Du Kang into his own research lab.
“What biological samples do you want to submit?” Stationmaster Liang asked.
Li Luo took out a liquid wrapped in relic capsules.
Stationmaster Liang looked at it and asked in confusion, “What is this?”
“A vibration beast parasitized by the red string worms, now deceased,” Li Luo explained.
Upon hearing this, Stationmaster Liang eagerly took the package of liquid, as it would be very useful for their research. He promised to compensate her with corresponding points after verification.
Upon hearing about more points, Li Luo’s eyes lit up. She walked over to the block and gently knocked on it, “Do you still need this horn?”
Mo Ling picked up the broken dream unicorn horn and found that it no longer had the function of entering the dream. So he handed the horn out and placed it accurately in the hands of the girl.
Watching the exchange between the girl and the block, Stationmaster Liang and Du Kang were both stunned.
Li Luo raised the black horn to Stationmaster Liang.
“This is the horn of the dream unicorn, can this also be exchanged for points?”
“Yes! Of course!” Stationmaster Liang quickly found gloves and a sealed bag, carefully put the horn inside.
After storing the dream unicorn’s horn, he looked at the block.
“Does this iron block relic have other functions?”
Seeing that Stationmaster Liang was interested in the block, Li Luo quickly stood in front of the block, blocking Stationmaster Liang’s line of sight.
Seeing the girl’s reaction so intense, Stationmaster Liang quickly said, “This is your personal property, we are not interested in it, but we still suggest updating the data of the relics in the database.”
Li Luo still stood in front of the block.
“Of course, you don’t need to update it, it’s not compulsory,” Stationmaster Liang interjected quickly.
“You have made a great contribution this time, so rest well in the monitoring station, don’t rush into missions,” he continued.
Du Kang quickly agreed, “You can’t take on such dangerous missions again, if there really is a lack of points, I’ll take you with me next time I go on a mission.”
Li Luo resisted looking at Du Kang.
“No need, that way I would still have to split the points with you.”
Du Kang gritted his teeth at these words but couldn’t do anything about it.
Stationmaster Liang then asked Li Luo a few more questions.
Mo Ling noticed that Li Luo did not answer any questions related to the block and her experiences in the dream.
“It’s not in vain that I saved you,” Stationmaster Liang said.
After that, Du Kang took Li Luo and left the research institute.
“Go and rest first, there’s a hunter’s rest point over there, you can stay in a good room for a bit of money,” Du Kang suggested.
“No need, I already bought a house in the monitoring station,” Li Luo replied.
Du Kang’s veins popped out again.
