Chapter 9 Money Comes, I’ll Buy Everything for You!
When Qin Liuxi woke up, two days had passed. As she stepped out of the house, the sky was filled with beautiful red clouds.
However, this beautiful scenery didn’t last long as it was disrupted by some unpleasant noise.
Qin Liuxi’s pleasant mood was instantly dampened, and she pursed her lips before heading towards the source of the noise.
The old Qin residence was a three-courtyard house. Previously, only Qin Liuxi, the master, lived there. In this large house, she only occupied a courtyard near the back street for easier access.
The commotion was coming from the flower hall.
When Qin Liuxi arrived, Aunt Li and Xiao Xue were standing at the entrance, looking somewhat helpless. Their eyes lit up upon seeing her.
“Miss,” the two of them greeted her with a bow.
Qin Liuxi waved her hand and walked in, asking, “What’s going on?”
As she looked around the spacious flower hall, she saw a crowd of people staring at her, some with worried expressions on their faces.
On the two large round tables in the hall were several dishes that couldn’t be considered exquisite: a steamed fish, a plate of sour cabbage stir-fried with pig intestines, two plates of vegetarian dishes, and a big pot of steamed buns.
Qin Liuxi raised an eyebrow. It was already dinnertime, but clearly, these dishes couldn’t satisfy this group of masters and young masters.
“What’s going on?” Mrs. Xie pointed at the dishes on the table, her face darkening. “Xi girl, look at what kind of food this is. Is this what people eat? Even our servants don’t eat this. Is this our dinner? It was the same yesterday, and I didn’t say anything. But today, it’s the same again. If the people in the kitchen can’t cook, then find someone capable to take over.”
As she spoke, she glared at Aunt Li and her daughter.
Aunt Li, who was hot-tempered, hurriedly explained, “Miss, when there were fewer people living in the house before, you never liked rich foods, so our purchases were always light. But these past two days, there have suddenly been so many people in the house, and we’re not used to buying in large quantities. Moreover, the money…”
Aunt Li stopped herself, finding it difficult to continue.
The expenses of a mansion were carefully calculated. In the past, with only Qin Liuxi as the master, the rest of the servants lived like ordinary people, except for Qin Liuxi’s more delicate meals, which were still sufficient for them.
However, in these past two days, with the sudden addition of more than ten people, there wasn’t enough money to spare. How could they go on with their purchases? They could only buy dishes that were filling and satisfying, regardless of whether they were exquisite or not.
Now that these masters were causing trouble, they felt unjust and troubled as well. Even a three-year-old child understood the saying that one couldn’t make something out of nothing.
“Nonsense! I clearly saw you secretly stewing a pot of jujube and lean meat soup for her,” a girl of about thirteen or fourteen scowled, pointing at Qin Liuxi.
Qin Liuxi glanced at her. She was the cousin from Uncle Qin’s family, named Qin Mingyue.
Aunt Li was momentarily stunned and explained, “Miss hasn’t eaten for two days. What’s wrong with leaving this pot of soup for her?”
“Are you implying that Miss is more precious than Grandma?” Mrs. Xie immediately interjected.
Aunt Li hesitated, not daring to say anything. In her heart, Miss was more precious than anyone else, but how could she say that here? It would tarnish Miss’s filial reputation.
Aunt Li looked at Qin Liuxi for help.
Qin Liuxi looked at Mrs. Xie, her gaze carrying a hint of coldness.
Mrs. Xie had a bony face, with sharp cheekbones. People with such facial features tended to have strong personalities, domineering, and indifferent. They were concerned with their own interests and only pursued profit throughout their lives. Qin Liuxi had no interest in getting closer to such a person and found them repulsive.
Qin Liuxi’s tone turned chilly. “So, you’re all full and looking for trouble here? Do you want a dinner with a rich and balanced combination of meat and vegetables, including things like bird’s nest and ginseng? Fine, Aunt Li, where’s the money?”
She stretched her hand towards Mrs. Xie. “Money comes, I’ll buy everything for you!”
