Chapter 3: Helping Aunt Three Induce Labor

Chapter 3 Helping Third Aunt in Labor

It’s a little ugly!
Qin Liu Xi: “……”

You may be pretty, but can you earn a living? Aren’t you just relying on your husband’s family?
Qin Old Madam coughed disdainfully and glanced at Wan Yiniao. Is this the time for pleasantries?

Ignorant!
Wan Yiniao immediately backed down.

Qin Old Madam then asked, “Where are the children?”

Xie Shi replied, “Pan Yiniao took them to settle down. Mother, what about third sister-in-law?”

She looked at Gu Shi, who was lying on the bed, with a somewhat sympathetic gaze. Normally, she despised Gu Shi for her indifferent and weak demeanor. But now, as fellow women who had experienced difficulties together, she was somewhat worried for her.

“She still hasn’t given birth yet,” Wang Shi replied first, then said to Qin Old Madam, “Mother, you should go downstairs and freshen up, have a bowl of ginger soup. We’ll take care of things here.”

“Madam and Eldest Aunt should go too. You’ve both been drenched in the rain. We have everything under control here,” Wan Yiniao added.

Qin Old Madam walked to the bed of the young daughter-in-law, seeing her in pain, she said, “Gu Shi, don’t scream, save your energy. You’re going to give birth to twins.”

Gu Shi opened her eyes slightly, tears streaming down her face, her gaze filled with confusion and panic. “Mother, I…”

Qin Old Madam placed her hand over Gu Shi’s mouth. “Don’t be afraid, we’re here for you.” She then looked at Qin Liu Xi and said, “Prepare some hot water, basin, scissors, and bedding. If possible, call a doctor to come over. Add some brown sugar and two eggs to the ginger soup to replenish your third aunt’s strength. If there’s any ginseng slices, prepare them as well.”

She was preparing for the worst. If they couldn’t find a reliable midwife, they would have to deliver the babies themselves.

Fortunately, even though some time had been wasted, they were able to find a midwife.

After a thorough examination, the midwife’s expression turned somewhat grim. She placed the blanket covering the pregnant woman down and walked towards Qin Liu Xi.

Qin Old Madam was about to ask, but she saw that the midwife had already bowed to Qin Liu Xi, causing her to pause.

“Miss, this madam’s pregnancy is not close to full term, but she has already started bleeding. The cervix is not dilated. We may need to induce labor with medication. However, we still need some preparations. Could you please provide some guidance?”

Qin Liu Xi didn’t have much of a reaction to this statement, but the faces of the women present all changed. Most of them were experienced mothers and understood that giving birth was like passing through the gates of hell. This particular gate was paved with knives and swords. If Qin San Tai Tai didn’t exert herself properly, it would mean a tragic outcome for both her and the babies.

Qin Old Madam understood this as well. Her legs grew weak, and she tightly held onto her prayer beads, her wrinkled face appearing even more tired and old.

The two maidservants began to sob softly, but Qin Old Madam found their crying to be stifling and sternly scolded, “What are you crying for? Get out!”

The sobbing ceased immediately.

Qin Liu Xi then said, “Grandmother, what do you think?”

Qin Old Madam looked at the young daughter-in-law on the bed, and wearily said, “Ask the doctor to prescribe medicine to get her through this.”

Qin Liu Xi nodded and glanced at Qi Huang, then the two of them left the room.

“Go to my small storeroom and gather the herbs. Brew them yourself,” Qin Liu Xi quietly told Qi Huang a few medicinal ingredients.

Qi Huang didn’t object and quickly went downstairs.

Qin Liu Xi looked through the window and saw the faint shadows inside the room. She rubbed her temples, sighed, and took the medicine box to a nearby room.

Opening the box, she took out paper, pen, and dark red cinnabar. She focused her qi, dipped the pen in ink, and began drawing symbols.

Her brushstrokes were steady and fast. The sharp tip of the pen pressed into the paper, the force passing through, as if a golden light flashed by. After the golden light disappeared, the previously unintelligible lines on the paper suddenly became lively.
