Mechanical Alchemist chapter 4

Chapter 4: The Ghost Species

Su Lun’s words stirred up a storm in the bald man’s heart.

He immediately asked back: “Is there really a relic left by ‘Sir Isaac’ in this mansion?”

Su Lun spat out another mouthful of blood, then answered: “Yes. At least that’s what the treasure map I got said.”

“.”

Hearing the confirmation again, the bald man’s eyes moved rapidly, as if weighing something.

Excitement, anticipation, hesitation, and a few worries.

He looked at Su Lun, his eyes flashed with suspicion, but his killing intent was suppressed.

If he didn’t know the secret of this mansion, he would have killed him already.

But now that he knew there was such a big treasure in this mansion, how could he give up?

As a veteran leader of a scavenger group in the “Old Lington” city, how could he not know the value of “Sir Isaac’s relics”?

That legendary alchemist, who was said to have studied ancient alchemy to the extreme, and was hailed as a “demi-god”. He created countless new alchemy formulas, numerous strange potions, and many inventions. His every alchemy ma**script could sell for a sky-high price in the Lington black market.

The bald man had seen it with his own eyes, at a black market auction, someone bought a useless page of diary for three hundred gold crowns, just because it was Sir Isaac’s personal handwriting.

You should know, his “DH-031 modified version” mechanical arm, with the material and modification cost, was only worth a few dozen gold crowns.

Although the bald man knew that Su Lun might be hiding something, but as long as it involved him, it was worth betting his life on!

What if he really found something left by Sir Isaac? It would be a fortune, and he wouldn’t have to risk his life scavenging for the rest of his life.

Thinking of this, the bald man squinted his eyes and asked coldly: “Kid, who are you?”

“I don’t know either.”

Su Lun pretended to be confused and thought for a moment, then added: “My memory was erased.”

The information on his retina said that the original owner was “memory erased”, so this answer was not wrong.

“.”

Hearing this, the bald man pondered for a moment.

He didn’t seem to doubt it, and didn’t ask any more questions.

He was exiled from the inner city, and had a bounty on his head, his identity must be complicated, and memory erase was a plausible explanation.

He didn’t bother to investigate Su Lun’s identity further, but instead asked: “How did you get the treasure map?”

“I don’t know who left it to me.”

“.”

Hearing this, the bald man frowned, but didn’t say anything.

They had searched him before, and didn’t find anything that could be a treasure map.

He also guessed that Su Lun must have some reservations, and questioning was useless. Anyone would not be stupid enough to tell everything at once.

So, he couldn’t kill him now.

The iron hand on his neck loosened a bit, and Su Lun knew that he had temporarily saved his life.

Although he looked a bit miserable, he was always calm in his heart.

If he wanted to really survive, he had to think of other ways.

The bald man was obviously wary of him, and kept asking him some details about the “treasure map”. But just then, a sudden cry of despair came from outside the door.

“Boss, boss, where are you. Help!”

The sudden scream made the atmosphere in the room very eerie.

The bald man realized that he was still in a cursed space that was suspected to be “A-level” dangerous.

This mansion still hid unknown dangers.

Su Lun didn’t know what happened to the guy outside, but hearing his desperate tone, he guessed that something very terrifying had happened outside.

The bald man’s face became very serious.

He held Su Lun’s neck as a shield, and walked over to open the door.

“Click” The door opened.

And at this moment, a bloody man rushed in with a panic face.

The bald man seemed to recognize the man in leather armor and assassin outfit, and said his name with a frown: “Marcus?”

The man saw the bald man, his pale face suddenly became rosy, and he exclaimed: “Ivan, boss!”

He paused, his horror turned into relief, and he gasped: “Oh, God. Boss, I finally found you!”

Su Lun watched this scene silently, and learned their names.

Boss?

It sounded like some kind of organization.

Su Lun looked at the wounds and blood on Marcus, and then at the smoking gun in his hand, and felt a bit strange: “A person who uses a gun with a blade wound, was he cut by someone with a knife?”

Or, not a person?

Apparently, things were not that simple.

And at this time, the bald man looked at Marcus alone, and looked outside the door, but didn’t find anything unusual.

He closed the door, and then asked solemnly: “Where is Mark, the deputy leader, Daniel, and the others?”

“Boss. They’re dead, all dead!”

Marcus’s eyes were full of fear, as if he remembered something, and said with a sob: “Just now. Just now we entered this cursed space, and we got lost. Then we found out that there were a lot of terrifying puppets in this house! There seems to be a ghost species in this house that controls those puppets. It’s everywhere, it wants us to play games with them. Hide and seek, if you’re found, you’ll be killed.”

“Ghost species?”

After hearing his subordinate’s stuttering account, the bald man Ivan’s face was full of seriousness.

Ghost species?

Strange?

Su Lun caught a few words that he understood, but were beyond his original knowledge.

After seeing the supernatural abilities of this world, Su Lun could easily understand that these words probably referred to some kind of “supernatural creature”.

“It” had just killed more than a dozen of the bald man’s group members.

The story that Marcus told was bizarre, but for Su Lun, who had crossed over, it was not too unbelievable.

He didn’t feel much horror, but rather a familiar feeling: “Horror plot? This seems to be the correct way to go.”

Vaguely, he could also infer some of the preferences of the “ghost species” from the process, such as: liking to torture humans, liking childish games.

It seemed that the fatal threat was not only the bald man, but also a “ghost species”.

The bald man was still asking his subordinate about the situation, and at this time, Su Lun, who was thinking fast, seemed to have found something, and raised his eyebrows.

“Huh”

His gaze moved away from Marcus, and suddenly fell on the soldier puppet in the corner of the study, which looked like a “nutcracker”, with red, black and green colors.

Before, he thought it was just a decoration in the study.

But he didn’t know if it was an illusion, Su Lun just saw the puppet’s eyeball tremble a bit.

And at this time, the puppet’s black eyes were staring at the three people in the room.

He recalled a bit, and found the anomaly, and thought: “I thought I was wrong before, but it really moved.”

He remembered very clearly, when he was pressed against the opposite wall by the bald man, the puppet’s eyes were facing the left, staring at them.

And now, they moved to the right side of the door, and the puppet’s eyes were still staring at them.

Like this →_→!

So, the people moved, the puppet didn’t move, but its eyes moved.

This was a habit he developed from playing horror escape games. In a confined environment, his eyes would instinctively collect all the “clues” around him to break the situation.

That’s how he noticed the difference in the nutcracker puppet.

“So we’ve been ‘watched’ by someone”

Su Lun found the anomaly, but there was a flash of realization in his eyes.

He thought he was wrong before, but now that he heard that there were killing puppets in this house, Su Lun immediately confirmed that everything in the room had been monitored by someone in the dark.

Maybe, it was the so-called “ghost species”.

But even if he found this out, Su Lun didn’t show any abnormality on his face.

For him, although he was not sure what the “strange” thing in the house was, but looking at the expressions of the bald man and the others, it must be some kind of dangerous existence.

But that didn’t mean that the “strange” thing would be more fatal to Su Lun than the bald man and the others.

It might even be good news.

If he wanted to survive in the hands of the bald man, this “strange” thing might also be one of the conditions that could be used.
