The man’s body is quite large. He seems to be about 2 meters tall.
His head is bald, with a large scar from his head to his cheek, adding to his rugged appearance.
On his back, he carries a crude large sword, and the worn leather armor he wears exudes the characteristic glossiness of leather products.
He is probably a seasoned adventurer.
Although there are some thoughts about his attitude, one should still respect the senior.
“Yes, I came to the capital to become an adventurer.”
“Stop it, stop it! You’re probably just a dreamer who came out from the countryside and thinks you can be an adventurer, but there’s no way a lanky kid like you can handle it!”
The veteran adventurer man smacks my shoulder hard.
It feels like it would definitely leave a bruise, and I involuntarily contort my face.
I brush off his hand and activate the level 2 light magic Heal through my clothes.
The gentle light gradually takes away the pain in my shoulder.
After exhaling deeply once, I slowly raise my head.
The thought of respecting the opponent had already disappeared.
“…I’m not a kid, I’m sixteen.”
My motto is ‘Be kind to those who are kind to you’.
If he’s going to take a tough attitude, then I’ll respond in kind.
Of course, I don’t intend to fight right here and now.
I hesitated on what to do, but… adventurers who handle rough business should prioritize their reputation and credibility above all.
So, if I’m going to be an adventurer from now on, I can’t let my fellow adventurers look down on me.
I have to make a stand here.
“Lightning”
Thanks to the numerous times I practiced against monsters before coming here, I can now control level 1 magic to some extent.
I activate lightning magic level 1 with the minimum amount of magic I can and surround my fingers with a weak lightning.
What do you think, baldy?
By showing this, it’ll lead to a situation like “Wha-!? Are you a magic user!?”
“Hey, is that… light magic!?”
“…? No, it’s different. I only used light magic earlier. This is lightning magic…”
“Lightning magic, seriously!? And on top of that, light magic too!? Hey, everyone, a crazy rookie has appeared!!”
The bald man who was looking down on me until now, now had gathered everyone’s attention with a loud voice.
Naturally, their gaze focused on me, who was intertwining lightning around my fingers.
“Lightning magic, don’t joke around… hey, could that be…?”
“Hey, hey, can you really use light magic!? If so, then please come to our party of older sisters…”
“Hey, what’s with all this talk! This is a decision for us magical users of ‘Dawn Break’ to make!”
Feeling embarrassed, I dispel the lightning, and adventurers around me quickly gather.
…For a new graduate like me who used to be a shut-in, this amount of attention is a deadly dose, isn’t it? (coughing blood)
Being stared at, whistled at, and recruited, I unconsciously consume my SAN value without getting used to the warm atmosphere that is much friendlier than I expected, and finally, my turn comes.
As I’m feeling gloomy with the typical negative thinking of a shut-in, the receptionist lady who was smiling politely before stiffens her expression.
“Then, again–Welcome to the Adventurer Guild Grisnia Branch. I’m the receptionist Melissa. Did you come for adventurer registration today?”
“Ah… y-yes! Nice to meet you!”
By recalling my consciousness that was flying off a bit, I bow my head.
Then, all the adventurers who were around me earlier surprisingly applauded and welcomed me.
I thought it would be a more ruthless atmosphere, but it seems to be a much more homely vibe than I imagined.
If that’s the case, even someone like me who isn’t good at socializing or competition might be able to manage somehow.
Feeling grateful for such thoughts, I take the first step towards becoming an adventurer successfully.
